Software News   Software News : PNG Workbench Icons Now Available
posted by herewegoagain on 25-Nov-2003 1:13:07 (3912 reads)
Thanks to Giancarlo Piscitello, the first set of replacement PNG icons for Workbench are now available for download.

Read the full story over at this thread on Amiga.org.

The file is available to download from Amiga's website "Community" section.

You can also see them here on Amiga.org

Great job Giancarlo. They look really good.

-EDIT-
Extended thanks goes to Coelho Elevardo for permissioning his icons from the original linux package at http://www.everaldo.com/

Hmm doesn't seem to be a snapshot of them. Ohh well. Pity, would've been fun to see what they look like :)

I refuse to visit aorg.

But Bodie was kind enough to send it to me. Thanks Bodie!

Perhaps HMetal could add the possibility to add a snapshot (besides the thumbnail) for icons packs in the workbench/icons category. I'll ask him.

I find this kind of statements hard to understand, every amiga site has its own value. What could one have against a piece of information? If you don't want to participate on threads, well that I may understand but simply refusing to go there... is way to much for my brain!

One have to hear both sides so that he cannot turn blind...

my 0.02?

And world isn't B&W neither... after all, wasn't Amiga all about choice?

@Pixie

I will not discuss that in a thread that has nothing to do with it. If you want to pursue that issue then create a new thread or use the PM function.

Folders usually go inside of drawers... But they look nice at any rate. I think Loraine Designs has done the set with Drawers.

The set looks good btw.

I wonder if someone has made a png icon set, intended for aos, that isn't themed blue.

I also prefer drawers..

Glow Icons with 24bit colors might be the ultimate type of icons for me...

after another look ... those icons remind me about OSX.
A little bit like some MOS themes resemble too much XP.

I'll search for unique look for my next AmigaOS (like) system.

So we should have a pair of underpants for each directory?

This is an icon set, if you don't like it don't use it. I like it, I will use it.

Im getting a bit fed up with people moaning about stuff that no one is holding a gun to their head to use, is free and is a result of someone elses time and effort.

Looks nice although I personally still prefer to use the glow icons at this point. But it's good to see efforts are already made to create 16-bit color icons.

I believe this will facilitate things when such support is properly integrated into future AmigaOS release. (e.g. selected glow states, icon dragging)

I know, but if you are doing some thing creativ like this why not be more original than copying some other systems iconset, it's not the effort i voice my opinion about it's the choise of icons and yes i don't have to use them thank god ;)

One should be able to take criticism IMHO....

OT...like these fellas from my class http://student.sofe.nu/da02maje/LTT/ (warning advertising )... they got their round of criticism from ppl....

I would like to know where your post had more to do with this thread then mine, except that I posted an opinion (shame on me!) about yours, unless it's the AW rules to bash over A.org (like it seems on other sites against AW) I can't accept that could be the case, one have to learn that we can't fight evil with evil.

You're entitled to yours opinion as much as I am to mine, for me this thing is finnito, so there's no need to a separate thread...

Yeah, I'm stuck with old icons since I use Magellan II. But it's nice to see these new sets anyway. Keep them coming!

Your Workbench/Desktop is a reflection of yourself. Your asthectics, your eye for art, etc...

I for one will use them because i like the way they look. Drawers/Folders.. bah.. doesn't bother me one bit.

And wouldn't ya know it.. I have practically the same icon theme in my KDE.

OT: How many hours have we all spent tweaking our Workbench's look?

It's amazing what a couple of icons and new windows borders can spruce up.
