Announcement   Announcement : Amigaforever.com RSS Newsfeed
posted by DaveyD on 5-Jan-2004 18:05:45 (2162 reads)
After a few weeks of testing Cloanto announced the public access URL for its RSS news feed at amigaforever.com, covering Amiga and emulation news:

http://www.amigaforever.com/rss.xml

The feed already contains a few hints about the news which will follow this month, and later during 2004 and beyond.

At the same time, the Amiga enthusiasts at Cloanto would like to take this opportunity to wish all Amiga friends worldwide a healthy, happy and prosperous continuation of 2004.

Is there supposed to be formatting of some kind for that page?
I get a bunch of sentences all run together. Kinda hard to read and make sense of.

Under the new agreement, Cloanto is sharing the source code with Genesi, who will assist in the port to its exciting PowerPC-based computing platform. Personal Paint will be bundled with MorphOS

Is that the end of Personal Paint for AmigaOS?

It doesn't mention anything about being exclusive to MorphOS. But by the looks of it they aren't going to be doing a version, it's up to someone to license it.

This is a big news (for MorphOS users)! Personal Paint PPC!

No, it doesn't say "exclusive", but since it will be bundled with MOS and Genesi are getting the source code you could make some reasonable deductions.

Surely only a very cynical person would assume Genesi would never let Ppaint appear on AmigaOS4.

It's not exclusive, so there is still room for someone to license the source code from cloanto for Amiga OS4, no more no less, unless it is exclusive., and if Genesi were looking to shaft Amiga they would have made it exclusive.
but lets face it ppaint isn't the end of the world.

Well, I wouldn't exactly call myself cynical. I was just speculating, albeit vocally. Nothing more, so don't take it too seriously.

I agree. To be quite honest, I was thinking of Perfect Paint when I read that. Funny, huh? But I have tried PPaint before. I don't think it should be discounted, as a drawing package I recall it was pretty good. Kinda like Dpaint but could be run on graphic cards. And it beats the heck outta MS Paint.

BTW, it's a moot point now, as Cloanto and Amiga have announced it will be availble for OS4 as well. So you see, you were right, and I'm more than happy to be wrong.

Hi

Will we have to pay for a new version of UAE or will this be included on the OS4 final release CD ?

This is nothing to do with UAE, UAE is free I believe, I imagine you'd have to pay for a new version of Amiga Forever however, but then it doesn't run on the Amiga yet.
