We apologise for any inconvenience caused by our downtime, this was caused when our website maintenance went horribly wrong and was further worsened when our host's support team rebooted our server and brought down all our services.

Again, our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

No problem Davey.

I made a few errors of my own on the way back up tho but they also put a few extra barriers in the way of us getting back online - think blatting our libraries and executables with wrong versions in an attempt to be "helpful" and you aren't far wrong.

I think its time to hit the bottle, then bed, my brain is going "grep register_globals $(find / -name php.ini)" to me.

Now, the changelog in smileys:

Ah, good. Just in time for AO to down for a few days.
Nice to see AW back up. Hope much wasn't lost or in need of repair.

I think that's just cover-ups. I think that you were actually hacked by a group of rogue Aussies, and world leading in hacking and digital mischief at that! Yes, that ought to teach you to think twice about who you mess with, you...lot, you!

Seriously, sh*t happens, no need for apologies as far as I'm concerned. Though, I did have some hits of withdrawal syndromes during the course of the day, and you're to blame! I've so badly been craving my regular AW-fix!

Good to see you back on-line again, great that you managed to resolve the issue so swiftly, kudos to you guys!

That passed through my mind as well, then I thought, naaah. But it was a funny thought.

@DaveP

Thanks for getting things going again. I've had my share of withdrawals too. To be honest, it was nice of Wayne to extend a welcome to us over at Amiga.org. Maybe they will use our site during the upcoming scheduled downtime over there. (we share many users anyway)

And I see we've just hit the 1801 user mark... Nice.

PS. HEY! Today is my one year aniversary with AmigaWorld.net!!!

I believe someone (or someone posting as someone ), has already claimed credit for it across the net.

Congrats! Nine more years and it'll be something REALLY worth celebrating! (while we're all eagerly anticipating OS7 when-it's-done, to run on our AmigaFours )

I recieved an email claiming to be from the FBI... accusing me of filesharing. It said I was going to be supeanad. It was sent to the amigans addy.. which I dont use for any other correspondence than amigans. Closer inspection revealed an attachment labelled fbi.txt.com - a command. Therefore a virus?

next thing I know I cant get into amigans.co.uk... Im bricking it thinking im off to prison to recieve some nasty shower tricks.. that the FBI are hunting me for a crime I didnt commit - kinda like the A team but without the cool ability to make cool stuff outta junk...

Amigans is hosted on AW's server.... I thought the FBI had brought AW down as well. My conspiracy theories were running amock.. thinking that some rogue trolls were attempting to spoil amigans before it begun.

IanS - my mobo will be returned, and I will be back online at home in a week. In the meantime I am getting an A920 - and I can use the free mins to discuss how the site should progress.. alas I will miss the IRC this weekend.

I spent the time installing debian on a dodgy PC. Suffice to say the air was filled with words that would make Ozzy Osbourne blush...
