Just read the maketing article and glad to see that their vision is not as limited as it seems on "the surface". That's good to know.
Things that I don't agree...
They seem to be focusing almost completely on the mainstream activities or "digital life" for the Amiga to have success again. What about the niche market of those that want an OS that they can control and have cool info about, and like do their bedroom programming as they wish...
I think there's space for a non Linux solution in that camp if the price is right. Linux is just anarchic. Combine that with the current enthusiast Amiga developers and advanced users and that could add some momentum. The support on forums for example and exchange of ideas and help in advanced topics and even development is just great...

Ok I think I'm gonna mention that on the survey....

By the way. The CAM survey will surely not represent the average joe user of the mainstream market, but I guess they know that....

I dont even have access to CAM, despite running the largest A1 community portal and owning an A1 lol

For those who requested but don't yet have access, hang tight.

Ehm...dang! There goes my $50....well, whatever, in retrospect, it was money well spent!

You don't think it'd be possible though to start that Earlybirder-one-year-freebie once my paid for year expires? (In, about, eleven months, but still.. )

Otherwise, just ignore my e-mail, and I'll repeat: it's been $50 well spent so far. (Not to mention all those 100's of $ well spent to gain "Earlybirder" status! )

@HMetal

Thanks Ray, looking forward to reading CAM.

Still I would like to add that I find $50 a year is quite a lot for an online magazine of that size. And it's a shame to see that there's almost no new members, but I guess most people feel like me about the price.

I would have used Javascript and had it update dynamically but we all know the problem with that and Amiga browsers.

There is only one browser that does not support the needed function calls to do a dynamic form field update, and there is an easy work around for it. I've created several bits of javascript that work quite well with the archiac browsers. You just need to take a collection of all document.form.input[] and parse through them. You can set up a function to activate when "onBlur()" or call the function every time you click a button "onMouseDown()". May not be the easiest thing to build to get it working with the Amiga browsers, but it is possible.

@soft

I have to ask, what is the point of a zero (0) with respect to your preferences in activities? A zero adds nothing to the final tally and you don't have to have a value in all of the input boxes in order to complete the survey. Simply put values only in/by activities that are important to you. All long as it finally adds up to 100, the form will then let you save the competed survey.

@Troels

I agree, but the idea was (and I hope, still is) to increase services to and for club members. In other words, CAM was to be only a small part of the larger set of club services.

I can't vocalize it but we all (or at least most of us) know why the services haven't yet been ramped up so, let's hope that the tide changes and we can ramp those services up ASAP.

I liked the Amiga case, cool idea.

Also, submitted the survey, let see what happens.

Hi Ray,

Have you news regarding the Party Pack discount on the A1 ?

I can't buy an A1 because don't know how (if ?) I can discount it...
Where and how must I buy it to be sure that the discount can be applied ?

Can you help us Party Pack owners ?

@Ralf

If you don't have an AmiPass account, simply go to http://os.amiga.com/new and create one. You will need one for me to give you complimentary access, if you are an earlybird A1 owner.

For those earlybirders that haven't yet requested access, save us all some time: Create an AmiPass account if you don't have one and also include your A1 serial number in your access request to webmaster@amiga.com. This will speed up getting your access granted.

@Zorro

Unfortunately, I don't have any news on that. The best thing for you to do would maybe be send me a private email (webmaster@amiga.com) and I can then forward it to Fleecy who can better respond to that issue.

@HMetal:

Hi!

I also have an Earlybird A1. I sent an E-Mail to you with my Serail.No. and made an AmiPass Account...

Hope to get access soon...

@HMetal

I just wondered.

Why don´t you add a box in the AmiPass form, where earlybirders could just enter their serial number?
Then we woulden´t need to clog your mail at all.

Just a thought.

Waiting and waiting
