Software News   Software News : SongPlayer (1.62) released for AmigaOS
posted by _Steve_ on 23-Apr-2004 10:37:39 (2477 reads)
After a long wait, the updated Songplayer has finally been given an AmigaOS release.

The CDDA management will be improved in the future, but you will find a new tag editor for that. The CPU consumption is back to a low level the program features far improved mp3 support (still no ogg-vorbis at the moment, that is MOS only atm).

Another version allows you to use SongPlayer without any hardware hit (full AHI and no filter access). It is better suited for use with Amithlon and OS4 under emulation.

You can find the latest releases here.

I've never used it [sorry ], I suppose SP won't make use of my Melody sound card (?) [I think about hardware decoding, not AHI]

Songplayer is the best MP3 player for the Amiga AFAIK. The quality is great through Paula and the CPU usage is low. I'll have to give this new version a try

Framiga, amipal : Thanks ! Nice to see SongPlayer is appreciated :)

rolpho : I have to see the features of the Melody soundcard. Not supported ŕ the moment :(

stevieu : I've just sent you the old SongPlayer 1.53 executable, even
if I don't understand why you still want to have that version.

maybe I'm paranoid, but everything seems "jumpy" now. The audio seems to jump from stereo to mono and is more sensitive to CPU load...maybe it's just me, but I don't know....I'm too sentimental maybe
