Hello rhino, we see that their stance on the OS4 version has not yet changed. Hmm... Looks like Bodie_CI5's fingers will be warmed up soon for a little email to them.

I don't understand what Amiga Inc has to do with a Pagestream release for os4?

Personally, the only software I will be buying from now on will be os4 native.

Pagestream is excellent, a top class piece of software, but there is a small fly in the ointment.

"The AmigaOS4 version schedule will depend on new developments with Amiga Inc [which] now out of the picture."

This is where KMOS needs to come in, or Hyperion.

Pagestream is a much have application for our platform and should be adapted to milk the most from the hardware and the OS - in short, we should bend over backwards to get this done right for OS4 and beyond.

I hope we hear something soon about this and Realsoft's Real3D we need these for our platform, and if they emerge we the community have to buy them and support these established developers as best we can.

In these two products we have world class DTP and 3D, they need to be looked after.

This goes back a far while (more than a year I think) when Amiga Inc had the IP for the OS. With all the changes since I suggest that Pagestream has been left flapping in the wind and are letting us know in the press-release on vsersion 5., plus they are not letting anyone be misled into believing that there will be a OS4 upgrade no matter what.

It is not a big problem, it just needs to be resolved, I suggest KMOS and Hyperion have been too busy with other things and this has just slid by.

Plus I too am only going to buy OS4 native, or a version that will upgrade to native.

I`ve just emailed Grasshopper, as to their position concerning Amiga Inc`s involvement, and also about my outstanding upgrade to the OS4 native version of pagestream.

I await their (usually) speedy response.

We really need this application for OS4, a native version that is!

In the future I will only buy native OS4 software or software that is promised to be available in an Os4 version (from companies I trust).

Hopefully the Grasshoppers change their mind and release an OS4 version ASAP, I really wan't that application... please!!

I'm in for at least 2 copies as the user groups I belong to are registered users and we need to update to an OS4 version.

Plus I'll probably buy one myself.

...and if we're all using it (we do the AUG mag on it) you can bet that there's got to be a few more members who will also spring for a copy.

I, too, am quite puzzled with Grasshopper's announcement, considering the fact that several users (me included) have actually ordered and paid for the OS4 native version. Hope Deron will clear that up ASAP.

Trixie

No, the server doesn't exist today

That doesn't mean anything. The download page also has since ages the linux and mac version of PGS and also the Morphos versions. But all were not available or only recently.

The version for Amiga OS 4 PPC is the same as the 68k version for the classic Amigas.
It runs runs on the A1 as I have installed it some days ago.

PPC version isn't ready.
don't know when it come if at all.

Either Deron knows things about Amiga Inc./KMOS we don't or BBVR has told him bull s h i t about AOS4/A1/KMOS. Because the MORPHOS version of PGS will be bundled with the next release of MORPHOS, either as Demo but more likely as full version.

KMOS and/or Hyperion had better have some pretty good bundling deals lined up by the time OS4 gets to ship "for real", otherwise by that time MOS is going to look like a very good deal to any newcomers to the Amiga scene.

THAT would be a much more fearful "knockout punch" by BBRV than any hacked-up court case. No-one would be able to fault them for playing unfairly, since they'd simply have the better deal, and the end result would be the same - RIP AmigaOS.

I've never used Pagestream. I've never had a reason to need it.

That's not going to stop me though. After all, 2-3 years ago I pre ordered a machine that didn't exist to run an OS that WAS vapourware in order to support the cause.

Now here I am posting a message on that machine with that OS.

Even if it's just to have a whoile wealth of native software I can play with. You can count me in on an OS4 native version of Pagestream 5.

It's one of the best and most intuitive DTP progs I used/use.

Forget Publisher on PCs or Scribus on Linux.

PGS is on par and far better then QuarkXpress (THE DTP prog worldwide now to be replaced by InDesign).

But best of all PGS is very low priced but has many more features than any other prog. Or you have to buy these extra features for a lot of money.

I would even say that QXpress etc. are so powerfull because there are plugins from 3rd parties. But PGS has many features itself and can easily be upgraded thx to the AREXX port and VCR like memory selflearning system.

And it is fast. The offset bureaus I showed it on their MACs, just drop jaws when they compared it to QXpress.

As for a comparision to InDesign, well PGS is much more intuitive, though InDesign has nice features. But no other DTP prog can EDIT PDF files. Except if you buy Adobe creative suit which include Acrobat Pro, Acrobat Distiller and Indesign. But it is very expensive and you can't run 2 of the same copies in an intranet or even internet.

The progs are constantly checking if they are running twice.

And you can't edit scanned money with the Adobe progs.

So PGS does all you need, fast, reliable and intuitive, for only a fraction of the price.
