What's in UBoot 1.1.1? I can't seem to glean very much from the report.

Eh? I thought this was the point of the new hyperion-entertainment.biz server?

@-Sam-

UBoot 1.1.1 adds LBA48 support, and few other (useless) things, like command-line completion for the uboot shell.
The upcoming update for the A1 will have few other fixes, and possibly a faster booting time (but no promise).
Of course...

Yes. The reporter probably didn't understand everything 100%.

There's a video of Ben Herman's speech available here :

DivX Video Page

He says he'd hoped to annouce availability of the update that day, but 'technical problems' with their web site are preventing distribution of it. That suggests the update is actually done and ready to go, which is good news.

I did have to grin a bit when Ben held up a copy of the pre-release CD and described it as 'completely PPC native'

Edit: OS4 update details from the video;

* PPC Native P96
* PPC Native Radeon driver
* Updated a1ide.device
* UDMA still causing glitches with sound cards, so may not be included
* Updated IBrowse
* Updated AmiDock
* SDK update with new GCC 3.4
* Updated GrimReaper

Yes, as Andrea pointed out it seems there has been some misunderstanding. We certainly have an FTP server for that with plenty of bandwidth.

Looking at the GCC site, I see that GCC 3.4.1 came out a few days ago, and it's got a ton of bugfixes. I think it would be a good idea for Hyperion to take advantage of the delays to grab the 3.4.1 sources, patch them for OS4 and put that version on the website instead of 3.4.0.

Uppdated iBrowse, nice. Does that mean that it's 2.3 with a few quick and dirty fixes, or is it (as I hope) iBrowse 2.4?

Heeeeyyyyyyy,

Me likes the sound of this. Can't wait for the fixed eth3com.device, this is the ONLY thing that spoils my enjoyment at the moment, everything else in this Pre is SPOT on & is looking to get even better.

W00t W00t!!!

Nice!

About the update; Hopefully it will include the newer elf.library too that we can finally start playing Quake on our machines...? I'd like to be able to use PowerIcons on OS4 too, so for that we'll need the updated icon.library...? (If I remember correctly...?)

Is there any chance that these would fit into that update too...? Please...?

If I remember the video correctly, Ben Hermans said that PowerIcons are working in the update.

There seems to be quite a lot working in the update, that doesn't work in the pre-release.

Hopefully the regarding the update will be soon.
