Although this is interesting I can't help but feel that I would much prefer entirely new 'proper' games with these legends of the gaming world going on to create new classics rather than rehashing the tired old stuff.

Not sure how well Sensi will play without a joystick. Also Sensi was written in the days when you could use all of the official player stats without having to pay extortionate license fees - which will now mean players with made-up names - not good.

MegaLoMania 2?

Well I suppose it's better than Team17 who, after writing some wonderful pieces of software seem to now be content releasing Worms 7D+ super edition etc, every year instead.

sam:team17 has a huge problem , they have to make WORMS games to be able to sell any at all, all their other games since they left amiga almost killed em.

worms3d seems to have been the rescue they needed....

anyway i'd love to see sensi soccer and cannon fodder on mobiles...thoose games ROCKS and shows how a good game is designed.

CF2 sucked though..

What about WIZKID and Wizball?

@-Sam-

I understand that they plan to release new stuff. Maybe this first porting is just for entering the mobile market and gain some fame before the new releases.

oh man, that's gonna be so great.

About similarity to Amiga version:

Cannon Fodder will also be much more similar than people expect, you can squeeze a lot out of a mobile phone if you try hard enough you know.

Doh, and I don't even HAVE a mobile. Guess who's gonna have to rethink THAT strategy, eh?

@Toaks:

Well, it's worse than that. I can summarize the problem in one sentence (two words, even):
What games?

I mean, come on. They have to make something noticeable if they wanna sell, right?

olegil:all t17 games since ab3d2 was a pile of crap. , sure worms 3d etc is good but no where near as good as the games they once made.

for references take a look at:

Addiction pinball (PC) (its ok...but nowhere near slamtilt.)
Worms Pinball (psx) (same as addiction pinball on pc) (heh...u get tired of it after 20 minutes)
STunt GP (pc/DC) YIKES!
Worms Blast (pc/ps2 etc) cool game shame about it beeing so....Sameish...
(sold well though)

Worms 2...too cute...
Worms Armageddon ...Too Cute and ohboy... how repetive it is...
Worms World party, cool addition to an allready overly used area...
Worms 3d...i didnt like it....AT ALL...

Super skimarks contruction kit was abandoned (wasnt it?) due to it was expected to sell badly!....AAAAAAAAARGH...

cheers

My SE T610 / K700i has a joystick....I'd love to play Sensi Soccer / Worms / Megalomania / Cannon Fodder on it

Not sure how I could play SWOS on my PDA though...some clever soul would need to make a SDIO based card that would connect to a ZipStick :)

I wouldn`t mind SWOS out and possibly Sensible Golf as well. SWOS was pretty popular, similar to Goal!

If Team 17 need to get away from Worms, then selling Original or Popular games is the answer and to get them to as many customers as possible...

WA and WWP are practically the same. There is almost no difference between them, so if you found WA repetitive, WWP would be too

Skidmarks/SuperSkidmarks was an Acid Software title, not Team17, and was published by Guildhall Leisure iirc.

I believe many Amiga classics could be well suited for today's and future smartphones, PDAs and other mobile devices.

With AmigaDE graphics scaling capabilities like was once demonstrated on TechTV it would IMO be great to be able to use such games on our desktop systems as well (BTW ZeoNeo's Invasion is great and would be even a lot greater if scalable! ).

I hope Amiga Inc will soon be able to prove to developers that there is a healthy market for AmigaDE products.

@steve:

please read what i wrote next time

SUPER SKID MARKS CONSTRUCTION KIT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AN TEAM 17 TITLE based on the amiga classic game by ACID, this game was to be released on PC! in 2001/2 but was ABANDONED!... , and publisher on pc would ofcourse not be TEAM17 as they dont publish.

publisher was/should have been either 1. UBISOFT (which publish most t17 games) or 2. Sega (which is their new partner...)

phew good to have got out some frustration...

and as far as wwp vs worms armageddon goes, yes u are correct and their both repetive and too cute but wwp had a few new things which made it a bit better than worms armageddon.

ps:im not mad hehe just upset at t17 for abandoning such a fine game though i dont have a pc and never will so....oh well u know...grrr

Worms did not look to me as a game which would do well in 3D.

I also believe most 3D games wouldn't suit smartphones or PDAs too well. For instance I am only interested in playing Firt Person Shooters on 17" inch or bigger screens and thus stamp size smartphone screens don't appeal to me at all for such games.

However I believe a 3D game like Trex Warrior or Stunt Car Racer could still offer a enjoyable experience.

This is incredible news. I can't wait to be able to play one of the best games in the world SWOS. This is truly great news. Now I'll be able to practice Swos all the time and be prepared much better fot the next WST.
WST is World SWOS Tournament if you didn't know and it was held for the 4th year in a row in Serbia.
If you are interested in any info about it you shoud go to http://wst2004.cjb.net

I thought Cannon Fodder was already available for Gameboy. Isn't that mobile enough? :)

There was a petition for Sensi on Gameboy though, they'd better fulfil that while they're making it for the teeny PocketPC market :)
