As a first comment I would like to thank Paul of AmigaONE Productions for his fantastic work. This is truly a pice of art. A keeper. It's not that often you see things as professional as this come from the small Amiga market.. Thanks Paul!

The first batch of orders will be posted tomorrow, anyone in the UK ordering from me should get their orders sometime this week. International orders may take another few days to get there, but I aim to be posting out any orders within 24 hours of receipt.

I have several in stock ready for immediate posting

I thought that most modern DVD players and TVs would not have a problem in playing PAL or NTSC DVDs, I have lots of NTSC DVDs which play perfectly on my setup.

Can anybody with an NTSC setup confirm this ?

Paul.

Americans get there electronic hardware so cheap because....

They get the absolute base kit.

Here in Uk nearly ALL our vcr's, YES, including el cheapo models are dual standard. ie: they record/play PAL and play NTSC.

Not so for US spec Vcr's. ( I sent my mom who lives in NEW Hampshire a video of my Sisters wedding. She was unable to watch it at all. I had to pay £25 to get it converted to NTSC.)

I know you are talking about dvd's but I see no reason why the US should differentiate its base spec on electronics.

@The_Editor,

Yes, I know that VCRs are not always dual standard, but DVD Players ? Anyway isn't most electronics manufactured in Taiwan anway

What we need is for someone in the USA to to try any PAL DVD in their system and report back.

Any takers ?

@ shoe

AmiGBG 2004 was great and many thanks for your kind hospitality.

Staying at your farm was interesting with all those animals (give the dogs a hug for me, will ya?) and before I forget greetings to your girlfriend too .

By the way, I missed commenting on the thread about ogg and wmf. I have the AmiGBG 2004 Anthem in ogg format. By all means do buy the original CD, but I have files ogged and ready.

I am listening to it now and then (just now as a matter of fact) and I can't stop shivering. Time to start working on the next fair is closing in ...

I am actually shocked to learn that the world can't make use of media files due to that old NTSC/PAL crap. And if those standards have to be used: please Americans update! Leave NTSC behind You. There is a reason for PAL to have emerged from it. NTSC quite simply, isn't very good.

Gooooo Mpeg!!! I have no pingpongs though, or is it bonbons, possums?

@A1Prod

Even though it stands for National Television System Committee(sp?) Your statement is very very true. I won't go into the details unless asked. I am not an expert, but I know what is going on in those buckets they call TV.

Sure it takes some time abd getting used to, to let go and venture into the unkown. But like inches and feet, NTSC just don't cut it anymore. We should also struggle to give the Betamax system it's proper place in history ...

@Wed

, Yes, I did know what NTSC really meant, but that's not as funny

What I still don't know is how well PAL DVDs play on NTSC equipment, I think most modern DVD players can convert NTSC to PAL on the fly, every one I've ever had can, so even if the TV cannot display a PAL image, the DVD player can convert it to something a little more palettable to an NTSC only TV set.

but enough of the theory , has anyone actually tried a PAL DVD on NTSC equipment ?

Also has anyone received their DVDs yet ? Comments welcome, good or bad when you have had a chance to take a look.

Hi Dirk (I have also replied to your email, thanks for that )

I will try to get to any important shows in the UK, the next one planned is the Big Bash next month.

I should also be going to next years AmiGBG with a bit of luck

If anyone thinks there is something I should not miss, please let me know, weekend events in the UK are usually no problem, also the odd trip accross the water is not out of the question given enough notice
