Internet News   Internet News : IntuitionBase.com update
posted by Ryu on 27-Oct-2004 1:06:36 (1982 reads)
IntuitionBase.com has been updated and in addition now also includes a new article written by Stéphane Guillard titled: "Notes about si680ide, idetool, VCORE and stability". Read more for the full list of changes.

It's been a while since we last updated but here goes:

-Revamped the MicroA1 section to include specifications and photos for both the Consumer and Industrial versions.

-New article in the articles section covering everything from the SIL IDE cards to VCORE settings and heat issues.

-Pageing added to both the Compatible Hardware and Available Software so the sections now load faster.

-USB section in Compatible Hardware changed to USB Devices.

-Sorting of non-working Software is now possible in Available Software.

-We have also now partnered with UtilityBase, which is a developer orientated portal and AmiRepo, a new frontend to AmiNet.

Thanks to all who have continued to submit hints, FAQ's, Hardware, Software, Backdrops etc.

Stay tuned for more updates

Oh and BTW IntuitionBase is now a year old, yay!

Not only a must for earlybird owners but for any curious ex amiga users out there. I've already forwarded people onto that site, it has a nice introduction to the A1/OS4.

But the "install FAQ" still needs updating it still says you cant use modems because the serial port doesn't work?

The customisation section looks a bit empty except for some backdrops there is no themes or icons on there. I had thought this was an area that the artistic amiga users would find easy to fill.

I would not mind if there was just a tutorial on how to get a really nice, pleasing to the eye workbench. There is no limit to what you can change in OS4 but changing the right things and choosing the correct shade of a colour for your workbench is for me atleast a bit of a headache. For example put me in B&Q in front of either the paints or wallpaper section and i havent got a clue what would look nice back home (and no i'm not colour blind). Could someone just make a few nice OS4 themes that i could tweak here and there (and reload when it goes wrong).

@dazA1

hey fellow Darren

Thanks for your comments, I was beginning to wonder if anyone was bothered...

Im working on getting the Install FAQ updated. I didnt write it so I need to get the original author to do the deed..

Im a bit miffed about the customisations bit too but not to worry, Its slated to be revamped in the coming weeks, so I hope it will be a bit more user friendly for people to use.

As for the article/tutorial... well thats what the articles section is for, just need someone to write something

Yeah i'm bothered!

Keep up the good work it's very important to have a good OS4/A1 website out there. I remember when i first bought my PPC blizzard/Permedia graphics card and tried to find some useful info about it, there was very little information which pi**ed me off a bit. I had just bought this exspensive piece of hardware but was left almost totally on my own with it and that was even before the whole powerUP/warpUP split.

Thats why intuitionbase is important for this new hardware and updated OS, it needs a good quality web presence from the start. Something clear, well laid out and ofcourse up to date:) which is exactly what intuitionbase is.

Whilst i am talking about the intuitionbase website i would like to suggest that you should add something for the curious non amiga user visitors and also those ex-amiga users. I am trying to think of how would an interested ex/non amiga user get some information on this new amiga? Maybe something as simple as a new button for these visitors eg "what is this new amiga?" and link it to the introductions to the A1 and OS4 menus. My point is i think the webpage needs a opendoor to tempt these users into the main part of the site and then hopefully go on to buy A1/OS4 (and in the long run make it cheaper for everyone).

I just hope that these non/ex amiga users i've been talking about dont go onto amiga.org first, that wouldn't be a good first impression.

Are you stopping contribution ?

The help key one?

I didnt add that because I think the help key is dependant on your keymap, not the keyboard youve got plugged in? For example here the help keys the "End" key...

well, I just submit what other people reported on the OS4 list.

long time ago I submitted a slightly modified version for the FAQ section in "How do I install (pre)amigaOS4 and debian/linux on the same HD ?" but sadly it did not go through. I just changed the point 15. so that people have exactly the syntaxe.
