Wow!

Looks good!

When will there be an Amiga OS 4.0 version?

Amistart is what I would want amidock to be. An amistart that did dockies would be ideal.

Amistart as a docky perhaps? Or meld amistart and amidock together into one single program. Hyperion, talk to this guy!

Ehm, why not Ikir ?, start bar does not means "Windows (TM)"

I think an implementation as Docky would be cool

I don't like start bars, not because they look "Windows"..... Amistart is good, an impressive piece of software... but i don't want it as default on OS4. I love Amidock.

Agree with the previous posters, that's one mighty neat looking app!

Try thinking of it as a step towards KDE-functionality, and you'll feel better about it.

I see your point, but there's always the ever enticing contrib-drawer.

Nooo, I hate Linux more then a I hate windows. Last think I want the OS to become is a linux look-a-like.

I do agree that windows with all its faults does have some good ideas, the start bar being one of them.

If it was ever bundled with OS 4 it wouldn't have to be enabled by default anyway.

I understand you point of view Ikir, but imagine a star bar menu as Docky, i don't want to replace start bar with AmiDock !!

Just a sort of integration of the two metods

Looks great. But I never liked and still don't like startbars! I like right mouse button WB menu or something like Amidock or the one on MAC OS X which still interacts with animated icons like email notification, clock update and calendar info.

Amiga OS will never be a Linux look-a-like because they are fundamentally different.

KDE runs on Linux, but it is merely an X Windows Desktop for X11 systems, not Linux.

This is a nice looking 'startbar' ... dunno if it is very "amiga" though. I think the functionality would be better integrated into the standard Amiga menubar somehow.

Looks like a nice utility, however I hate start bars. Not because they're "windows" but because they suck. Each to their own, however

@xeron

>but because they suck

That's basically what I think about the current amidock. Too darn limited. Can't even scale icons or freely position groups of icons/dockies inside a docky.

I gather by start-bar, you're talking about The start button and the Taskbar.

Make no mistake the Windows Start-button is a hideous piece of GUI design which is why desktop shortcuts are so damn popular. Do a google search and you're bound to find dozens of essays as to why.

The taskbar on the over hand does give a decent amount of control for applications, but isn't necessarily the best method.

AmiDock is definately a step in the right direction. If some degree of application control could be integrated and some of the configuring niggles ironed out then it will be excellent.
