Hardware News   Hardware News : Guide: how to use a Prometheus PCI board in a Amiga 4000 Desktop case.

How to install a Prometheus in a desktop Amiga 4000

Have you ever wanted an inexpensive way to add PCI slots to your Amiga 4000 while retaining the desktop case? Now this is possible with very little effort and for very little cost. The purpose of this guide is to instruct how to use a Prometheus with 2 PCI slots while retaining 2 unobstructed Zorro slots. The video slot also remains unobstructed!

The guide is available online at Amiga.org

With OS4 coming, is your A400D ready for a Radeon?

As I've already brought up on A.org there are a few things I belive could make this even better:

1. Usa a ultra lowprofile ethernet card to let more air pass by the Voodoo3 heatsink.
2. Instead of cutting the backplanes remove them and put them at the back of the machine (or at the very least just bend them at 90 degrees instead of cutting). A small monitor cable such as found with Voodoo2 cards could be used to expend the monitor port to the back of the machine and with a soldering iron and four whires the ethernet port could also be extended to the back of the machine. Removingt backplanes would also be better for the airflow over the PCI cards, though you'll probably need a few spacers to keep the PCI cards apart.
