Software News   Software News : New version of AROS-Max
posted by Holley on 25-Nov-2004 15:40:53 (2181 reads)
AROS fans can get a newly updated and stable release of the Max distro from www.AROS-Max.co.uk.

Following development work there will now be seperate 'stable' (0.2.x) and 'under development' (0.3.x) versions.

New features in version 0.2.0 include install scripts, graphical grub bootloader, improved sound support for play, lbreakout, lmarbles, circus, a redesigned contrib directory and a working version of summvm!

Download file size is also much smaller than before, without sacrificing features, so be sure to try it out

It's AROS loaded with software and configured a bit. Like a Linux distro I suppose...

Good work to all concerned! With no movement on the AROS website since March, it's good to see that stuff is happening. I must try it on the weekend if it doesn't turn into a 2 day hangover....

Max is a distribution that includes all the goodies, ie. development environment, games (in the case of Doom & Quake it includes the demo level files), demos, and a pile of little extras that make things easier. It's also pre-configured to use stuff like a fancy graphical theme and some comodities right away (this can be a pain to do from scratch).

Hope that clears everything up
