Amigaworld member fishy_fis has released ports of 2 Emulators for AmigaOS (68k)
They are:-

Dgen is a 68k amiga os port of the popular sega megadrive emulator.

Hatari is a 68k amiga os port of the Atari ST emulator based on 0.50 sources. It suports all versions of TOS and limited Gem support. Also supports 68000/68020/68040 cpus, gfx cards and harddrives

All the above are designed for Classic/68k Amiga/MOS and Amithlon users.

Good effort.

You know what makes me laugh?

Atari knew their OS was pants so they called it "TOS"
I can think of a few names for it.

Anyone ever use it?

Green anyone?

@Rudei

lol, Id never really noticed the odd name of the Atari ST OS, although I have to agree with you from my limited experience with it. Gem seemed a big improvement though.

@Rudei/VooDdoo/hotrod

Thanks for the words of encouragement. Makes it much easier to stay motivated with a kind word here or there.

@Anyone who's interested

There will be updates/bugfixes and WOS ports of these emulators available for download shortly (if possible OS4 ppc native as well, but thats a little difficult for me at the moment,... worst case scenario and I'll get things working on OS4 properly, if only in 68k for now) as well as some other stuff I have "in the vault" that I didnt release today. Not sure what will get released, or when exactly, but over the next few weeks expect quite a few more emulator releases from me.

rudei:

For Atari ...use StonX (ST on Amiga) , os4 port on os4 depot.

For Sega MD/genesis use Dgen Os4 , iirc that was ported by S. Hauser last year...might be wrong.

anyway im not an atari user or have been so i dont know what to say but im sure if there is no Dgen port out there for normal users then something should be done

Fishyfis: thanx for the stuff.

STonX is very nice but it lacks joystick-support so if you run games you can't play them! Except for that it works nicely.

Doesn't AmiGenerator work on OS4 or was it PPC only?

It has been a while since I looked/used it, since I tend to use the PC ports of these emulators more these days due to being more advaced/faster in most cases. (I use GENS on the PC for a Genesis emulator in my case)

Ahh..I just looked it AmiGenerator is PPC only. Mayby AmiDog will recompile an OS4 version at a alater date.

@Fishy

If you can do something PPC native I'd be well interested - are these tested under OS4?

I LOVE emulators. Especially games console emulators. I'll give these a crack.

Megadrive emulator for 68k, cool!!!!

Going to try it now on UAE, are Megadrive ROMs freely available, if so where? Or do you have to flash a Megadrive - however you do that .

There are some freeware public domain Genesis/Megadrive ROMs available on PDROMs. You can also try my poor buggy effort at coding the Sega Megadrive. [/shameless plug] (not available on the PDROMs site)

For the Atari ST I have seen some efforts about rewriting the TOS or developing entire new operating system (MiNT, FreeMiNT, MultiTOS, MultiOS, MagiC, N.AES, Geneva), but I haven't followed their development for years now.

@fishy_fis
Great work.

@thread

I thought someone had developed a "Love" emulator?

Wouldn't that be typical for our amiga gal?

Oh well, this thread suddenly lost it's interest.

@Gav

You can use either a shell, or the command line box that comes up when you double click the icons. For Dgen just type "Dgen -f romname.bin" (the -f meaning full screen rather than in a window). For Hatari just type "Hatari diskimage.st". There are other options as well, but that will be enough if u just want to play a few games. I you need anymore help feel free to ask.

Hello,

Sounds like impressive stuff. But what are the hardware and software requirements for these. And what speed and sound are we expecting from these?

Regards,
