Software News   Software News : Wet 2.0 released
   posted by Chris_Y on 12-Mar-2005 19:42:16 (2484 reads)
Wet 2.0 - the Workbench weather program for AmigaOS 4.0 - has been released.

More info & download

Key new features include the ability to convert to different units, full weather information on the GUI and an installation script.

I would like to thank the community for their help and support. I must say I was overwhelmed with the response to my call for translators. As at the time of release, seven languages are supported by Wet:
English, Czech, Finnish, Italian, Turkish, Swedish and Greek. Some of these translations are partially incomplete and will be updated later. If you want to translate Wet or you pledged your support previously and didn't receive my email, please let me know.

You might want to check the archive on OS4 Depot. I downloaded it and got version 1.3 instead of 2.0.

--Edit-- Opps!! There should have been a warning somewhere that a reboot is needed. After doing that everything worked great.

Hehe. Ya, I did the same thing. But as you said, a reboot take care of updating it.

Hehe, what is alittle snow? 39km . . wow, nothing closer? I am in the Bay Area of Calif and within 24km it can be 7c different and could be raining. I hope that you can find a station closer to you.

Well, the installation page in the guide* does say in big bold letters, to remove any current running versions with Commodites Exchange first.

Hmm, I should have put that into the install script as well.

Chris

Nice update! Working great here on my MicroA1 "C" ! Keep up the nice work.
The GUI reminds me of the Remote Desktop GUI - looks nice!

@Kneedeep

That's one of the problems living in the "green".
The next big city will hold ALL the things you might NOT need in a year, but
WHEN you need them, you need them NOW and they are ALWAYS out of stock.

It snowed 10cm in the last 2 hours here...is this called "a little"

Just installed your lovely piece of software.

Now when the older version was made available, I thought "nice" but I would never use it and thus never installed it.

This time I thought what the heck, my wife always wants to know the weatherr, I was sceptical that I would get anything relevant or useful from it --- and suddenly I am addicted.

The weather station it uses is just up the road from me -- once I got my co-ordinates in. Today high winds were expected, but now I know their strength and direction.

This should be packaged with the OS. It is so damn useful, I no longer have to keep the telly on to hear the forecast at the end of the news (and thus have to sit through all that sports rubbish) just so my wife knows what to wear the next day (do all women do this?)

Thanks.

I always like things that take you by surprise. I didn't think this was anything I would be bothered with, thought it would be just another "something I installed but never used" how wrong I was, thankyou for this charming little present which I never knew I wanted until I had it.

@GregS

Thank you for your lovely comments.

Wet should be able to forecast the weather up to 24(?) hours ahead once I get the support in.

Chris
