and asking for the CYCAS Amiga version, we will release

@treblesix

It usually takes a couple of days for a submitted program to appear on aminet.

It runs fine, but the released version is very very old. Would be nice to have the latest version with W3D acceleration. But - I can understand them -, they don't want to spend time/money to port it from the windows version back. It is a lot of costs for a small company and there are too few customers who would buy it.
Anyway: I would buy it and use it, if it would ever came out for OS4.

Current version runs just fine on MOS too, but as Chip told it's very old version and sadly showing it's age. I might purchase an updated 68k/ppc version of it no prob.. Autocad is a bit out of my financial reach

I thought that the Aminet hasn't been taking uploads for like years..
So where do we get this at? Do they mean the "new Aminet" (OS4 Depot)?

Since I know the programmer personally I will make a statement about the version, as he told me some days ago:

The newer Versions of Cycas heavily rely on GTK which is not available on OS4. Therefore no OS4-Version atm. Even if it were, it might be doubtfull, but since he asked for SDK, its not totally unthinkable ;)

Sounds really bad, because GTK is a damn slow kit. (IMHO!)
A native GUI would be much more useful.
Have you gave the SDK to him?

No, I'm not sure if a crosscompiler is in the SDK (I'm no developer) and they only have 68k-Miggies. Also: is it legal to give the SDK to s.o. else? I have heard no statement like this from Hyperion.

Anyway, GTK is for the last versions essential and I don't think I could persuade him to go to MUI or Reaction instead for such a "hobby-project", even if his partner could be convinced, too (she wasn't too happy about such ideas, since MAC would be a much higher Priority for porting).

Hopefully with the development of OpenOffice, GTK may find it's way from this project... FIngers crossed...

Here's the answer I got from the CYCAS team

... yes. Because of so many people sending us mails now,
and asking for the CYCAS Amiga version, we will release
CYCAS 1.78 unlimited on Aminet.

Have fun with CYCAS!

The development of CYCAS for the Amiga is set on hold, resp.
it is stopped. If we can see any chance in the future, we
will consider the restart of the development...

> What are the differences between the Amiga, Linux and Windows versions of

Infomation on this can be found at the CYCAS web pages,
looking at eg. the import and export features...
