Software News   Software News : 20th Anniversary Bonus Pack for AmigaOS 4.0 released
posted by AmigaPapst on 22-Jul-2005 14:58:21 (16821 reads)
Leuven, Belgium - 22. July 2005

To commemorate the upcoming 20th anniversary of the launch of the Amiga platform on July 23rd, Hyperion Entertainment is pleased to provide registered AmigaOS 4.0 users with a special treat in the form of a much improved version of Intuition and several "themes".

This new version of Intuition unlocks functionality which demonstrates the very high degree of customisation of the user-interface which is now possible under AmigaOS 4.0.

Here are some screenshots of the themes in action:

The "Default" theme (for reference).
The "Atez" theme.
The "ZAmi" theme.
The "Classic" theme.
The "MT" theme.

You can find the download
here. Enjoy!

Hi Varthall

I remember the MT theme been shown in one of the first screenshots of OS4

Well, not exactly. What you probably remember was a concept image created by Massimo back in late '99 or there abouts. The latest features of OS4 allow this to be actually implemented in a usable GUI today.

Here's the original concept.

A great surprise! Excellent!!!
Thanks Hyperion.
Atez theme is my favourite. It looks cool. And, classic theme is also good.

With all these Themes you are spoiling us!

I like (and am now using) the MT theme, so that's all of them liked the best by at least one person?

And the 1.3 is a great laff! Any danger of a OS 2.1? take me back to the 500+ years?

I know

Unfortunately, neither me nor Hans-Jörg have anything to do with those themes. Just put them online on our webpage...

but i can't find the switch, setting, whatever for it in GUI prefs.

It's not in the GUI prefs, it's in the theme's CONFIG file.

@Rogue

Will it be possible to change theme within the GUI Prefs in the future?

I don't know, but I guess since the theme is made up of multiple prefs files (fonts, palette, gui) it will probably boil down to something else...

A bit strange to see the USB-Inspector in the 1.3 environment though

Nobody's said anything about the improvements to intuition. Now operations on multiple files (like rename) works. Also seems to multitask better. Probably more stuff.

One criticism on the classic theme. It needs a dark background or a dark outline around the windows. Also have lots of lockups with some of the themes. I suppose this will be fixed.

Hyp, hyp, Hyperion!

Tried to download those themes as I'm a registered user. Trying to do so results in a page telling me I have to be logged in as a registered user. Which I am! So these themes are not meant for me then?

a sad, sad OldFart
