@m3x

Oh so it's not completely true..
So we WILL see µA1-C after all? Why? When Amy'05 comes who would want an
µA1-C? I will NEVER again buy anything that has a MAI chip sitting on the
motherboard that much I can tell you. It's performance is.. Well it SUCKS!

Just getting rid of the VIA686B will be a dream.. And also Articia S at the same
time.. It's almost a magic board
If it had some sort of real graphics bus I would have bought this board the minute
it was released.

Maybe they can fix the desktop "shortcomings" for the next model motherboard?

* CPU socket preferably MAC compatible MEGArray sockets so we can use their turbocards.
Delivered without a CPU card, cheaper if we buy from a mac turbo card maker.
* include a 2ch SATA onboard also.
* full size ATX or mATX with 2-3 PCI-E and 2-3 PCI for expandability.
* TSI108 for higher FSB speed (200MHz) and much higher total speed. And DDR memory..

This and keeping the rest of the components would make for DREAM machine,
for me atleast.

Is the difficult part that PegasosII have Smart Firmware and not UBOOT or?

No, for the 100th time. Neither the classic nor the Mystery Device use U-Boot, and you can still boot OS 4 on these. Adding an OF loader would be trivial.

The plain and simple truth (as has also been pointed out before) is that there is no license for the Pegasos II, and as long as there is none, nothing is going to happen.

Can we return to the topic again now?

@Rogue

Maybe it would be easier to understand if AW.net had big window open everytime people log on here where it said "OS4 can load under any BIOS if support for it is added, NP really!"

Uhm, I bought the frigging AmigaOne from Eyetech, so how would it be infringement?

I think he thought you were talking about your own motherboard project, and were referring to it as 'Your Amigaone', rather than the actual amigaone you purchased from Eyetech.

But is there a license for the Troika board? Or for the "mystery device"..?

I don't know. I propose you ask the Troika people.

You seem to misinterpret what the mystery device is. It is not for sale and it is most likely not going to be for sale any time soon. It was a technology sample, a proof-of-concept, not a product. An interesting techology sample for sure, and I think it's safe to say you would be surprised if you saw it.

I'm afraid that is all I can say about the topic.

Yes surprised... I believe you !
But do you think the majority of us would want and buy it ? Or is it mainly interesting for non Amiga users ? (This is a serious question)

>I'm afraid that is all I can say about the topic.

You know you are killing us !

Thanks,

Martin

ps, can we begin counting down till christmas ?

@MetalHeart

I think it's safe to say that Christmas will come, yes. Or did you mean something else?

Was this comment meant for me? I hope not because I'm a µA1-C
owner that in time has noticed the performance of these chips.
Also several devs are not really happy with the A1 hardware so..

Maybe not exactly on topic but comparing µA1-C and Amy isn't
really that far off is it?

Hi Hondo_DK,

We should clench our teeth and wait for that Cell based motherboard (I didn't actually read what it was supposed to be) that's supposed to come out next year, I think from Toshiba.....

So now, what makes me wonder is why does this not apply to the mystery device and apparently AHT (edited out) devices?

What is Amiga Inc. thinking of all this?

Ever thought of the possibility that Ainc might have asked them to make it run on said mistery device?

Well, I cannot say that I'm really suprised by that. It really is a different statement than those we have been hearing by others on this board who claim to know what it is, and also claim that it "will save us all". I think they are just lost in self-importance. So it's gone from the next big thing that will save us to "only a technology proof of concept sample", which may or may not ever even see the light of day since it's not even a product.

It's sounding more like another Nokia or Sharp to me. I would venture a guess that's why we've not heard all of the great shouting from the rooftops that was said to be coming last year.

You mean this ?

It's not a 'end user' product, it's a developer/reference board...think $$$$$$$ just like the Teron reference boards from MAI. Now relax before you get lockjaw.
