Software News   Software News : KEGS ported to AmigaOS 4.
   posted by drHirudo on 24-Nov-2005 22:29:52 (3003 reads)
The multiplatform AppleIIGS emulator, KEGS, available for wide variety of platforms, have been ported to AmigaOS 4 as well:

Click here for screenshot.

Required for proper function of the emulator is an Apple IIGS ROM image file (ROM.01 or ROM.03) and bootable disk image, which are not included in the emulator's archive but there is information how to obtain them.

Standart µA1-C with PPC750GX(G3) emulates the Apple IIGS at 75 MHz (average), when turned to fastest emulation mode.

Have fun.

Really cool! A step closer to porting MacOS X emulators
to OS4, perhaps?

Huh, didn't know there existed a (Mac)OS X emulator?...
Something like MOL for AmigaOS4 would be enough, no hardware to emulate, as they are so similiar.

@SpotUP

I was thinking of something in the line of MOL, yes

It would have to be called MOA then (Mac-On-Amiga)

@Helgis

I wonder how OSX would run on an Apple II...?

I thought OS4 fans were anti-emulation.

Does this emulator do what Shapeshifter did for OS3? I mean, does it run the same version of MacOS (I know Shapeshifter didnt emulate in the same way.. it was more like MacOnLinux).. I wonder if this is a good way to get a modern browser on OS4. At least, until KHTML and Paihia are done :)

Giving a close look at the Workbench screen, reveals a CPU-docky colouring bright red. Is this an indication KEGS likes a few CPU-cycles?

Will this be uploaded to OS4Depot.net?

Apple 2000 doesn't emulate the 16 bit AppleIIGS, neither the double lowres and double highres modes, neither harddrives or auxilary memory.

I have the full Apple 2000e source, but I put my efforts into KEGS, since it's the better emulator.

Great! more software ported to OS4.

Mind you, when you look at Mac OS and compare it with Amiga OS3.x, it makes you wonder how it (MacOS) became so popular.

Edited spelling mistake

Obviously not very long. Why not hit that button a few more times?
