hardware OS4   hardware OS4 : Warp3D plugin for FPSE (OS4)
   posted by shoe on 17-Jan-2006 20:44:21 (10195 reads)
As has already been mentioned on Amiga-news.de, safir.amigaos.se and this thread Mathias 'Amidog' Roslund recentlly released the first Warp3D plugin for the excellent Playstation emulator FPSE for OS4. Great performance has already been reported with the new plugin.

Get it now: gpuw3d.lha

I'd like to think that this release was inspired by the Cubic IDE that was sponsored by some of safir's members earlier. Keep at it Amidog!

I cant get it to work with my Voodoo3. It's a 16mb card, so I suspect it doesnt have enough memory. When I run my game, the FPSE window appears for a 10th of a second (I measured it.. well, actually no I didnt it just seems really fast), and disappears again. I tried changing values in the config but to no avail so far. When Update4 is here I'm retiring the Voodoo3 and getting a Radeon.

@jahc

Have a look at T:FPSE.log after you've tried the W3D plugin and quit FPSE. It might contain some usefull information.

@Toaks

Which software isn't "Work In Progress" ?

Anyway, I didn't have time to update my webpage so I just uploaded the plugin to the WIP section...

my guess is that warp3D is not turned on? could that be correct if so how do you fix it?

My system is A1XE G3 with update3 installed and a voodoo graphics card.

That's the first obstacle in all likelihood, the image plugin doesn't circumvent the copyprotection, so you need to use the original disc and cdrom.dll. AFAIK.
edit: I read the FAQ, it's actually that ISO won't work, only BIN/CUE is supported.

@Thematic

No ISO on the game I tried (Ace Combat 2), it was the original disk. I would like to see at least 1 game start up.

@those who can't get it to work

Which settings have you choosen for the Warp3D plugin? Please post the stuff below [GPUW3D] in fpse.ini.

Also, try to lower the number of textures to 64 and set texture reduction to 1/16 (64x64) just to see if it makes it start. You might also want to try to set it to open on its own screen, in case it's a problem with the screenmode of your WB.

(First test the game with the software GPU to make sure it works with FPSE in the first place...)

Note to self: Make sure the GPU errors are logged in the FPSE logfile.

sundown:well did it work before this update? , first of all if youre supposed to be booting OFF a cd then you need to use the cdrom plugin and not cdimage like you choosed.

not every game works in fpse as the database will tell you... it is sorta hard to understand your problem as everything you say indicates that fpse is actually working on your machine.

Good god what's happening here? Constructive dialogue and feedback?? Noooooo! That's not what we are all about! -:)

PM me if there are any specific games you want me to test and update on the database.
