Hi there,

I'm just wondering why Jabberwocky is always in beta state while the vesrion number is growing. Is there not a stable snapshot of 1.6?

Thanks,
Firbodi

PS: I love this program, using it often.
a lot for the update it's much welcome (beta or whatever).

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

@Firbodi

No problem

@spotUP

There are few update to the network connections and the XML processing, this might help Jabberwocky to be more compatible with some new Jabber server

@The devs
Do you plan to add webcam support in the near future?

No Samo is not one of the developper there is currently one main programmer for Jabberwocky and this is Xenic (aka Jeff Gilpin).

I don't think there would be webcam support in Jabberwocky anytime soon because Jabberwocky is a Jabber client and this IM protocol (which is based upon XML) does not support this (and won't IMHO). So unless Jeff implement a direct connection between the two computers and use an own protocol there is almost no chance to see it.

Ok.

I know that it is slightly off-topic but is it possible to have webcam conferences using an Amiga? It's something that pc and mac users have using their IM clients, since many years ago.

The MSN transport option doesn't seem to be working. I use "msn.jabber.dk".
Any way to get it working?

On the plus side, I can login now! Previously (and since a few weeks ago), all I got was "initialization failure" or something like that.

Works great (like the previous version, after all)
Today I even tried for the first time an MSN groupchat... and it worked flawlessly
Great job!

This agent does not seem to be active/working.
I use msn.jabber.anywise.com.

1. open the agents list
2. enter "msn.jabber.anywise.com" in the ServerID gadget
3. click the "visit" button
4. select the "MSN Transport" item
5. click on "register"
6. enter your MSN passport & password

P.S. I could not answer your PM because both AWeb and IBrowse don't seem able to PM anymore

Sorry about that. We had a glitch in the log message forwarding at SourceForge and I lost the log messages I have been using to create the readme files.
Most Jabber servers are being updated to use newer protocols/namespaces based on the XMPP standards for XML based instant messaging. As a result, the older versions of Jabberwocky (including the latest complete release v1.6) are partially obsolete and won't even connect to some upgraded Jabber servers. Jabberwocky 1.7b1 is a rush job to get Jabberwocky working again and has no significant feature additions. Most of my spare time is being spent on keeping Jabberwocky working in a constantly changing Internet environment. Feature changes and additions will just have to remain on the "back burner" for the time being. It won't do us much good to have things like a message history window if the program won't even connect or send chat messages through modern Jabber servers. Sorry, but it's a matter of priorities.

By the lack of answers i assume that there isn't a way. Too bad..
