Announcement   Announcement : Eurochart Issue 48 released
posted by shadow on 29-Mar-2006 21:19:13 (2656 reads)
We, the Amiga demogroup IRIS have just released the newest issue of the well-known chartmag 'the Eurochart'. This time we have released it for 6 platforms, and we have some massive content in it.

However, you might be especially interested in the fact that IRIS has now made it possible for any MOS/AOS4 owner to make his own diskmagazine! The diskmag engine can be used freely by anyone wishing to do so, as long as you give out the proper credits.

If you are interested in setting up a MOS/AOS4 electronic magazine, get in touch with Chris Dragan at: chris@dragan.name.

For downloading the Eurochart, go to www.eurochart.dk (or http://irishq.dk/ecrelease/ if our mainpage has not yet been updated.)

I've been waitig for SO long! Finally! Good job.
It's slow though, will there be a recompiled version with the latest SDL for AOS4? That wouldn't hurt. :)
Thanx for issue 48!

@spot

Actually, the readme is slightly wrong, the latest SDLs don't fix the 100% cpu bug.

I don't know why its so slow on OS4 compared to elsewhere... but then I didn't write it or port it, it just did the final compile.

Really? I think Richard has fixed the busywait bug months ago and the update is available on his site.

To work around it, use SDL_Delay(n), where n >= 20

Hmm... I'll pass that on to the engine maintainer. Dunno if SDL_Delay() is used anywhere, but we'll see.

It's great to see it running natively under OS4! I've briefly tried the Win version (while at work), and it's quite nice, I like especially the music. It's a bit awkward to exit, though, since trying to close the window doesn't do anything, you have to do it using the GUI.

Regarding the 100% CPU usage, I'll have to check it but, for instance, Milkytracker, compiled with the latest SDL, doesn't seem to suffer from this problem.

BTW it would the nice to see the OS4 version only on os4depot and the 68k, os4 and mos versions on Aminet.

That is one SERIOUSLY super fast server!!!

I just downloaded the 23mb file in around 15 seconds. IBrowse was reporting a CPS thingy of around 460,000.

Cheers guys

FuZion.
