Hardware News   Hardware News : CPU Demo Delayed: Death of the Optimist
   posted by ackcontrls on 10-Jun-2006 16:27:00 (15547 reads)
Due to time and resource constrainsts the CPU demo has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled at this time. There have been technical difficulties getting the CPU module to work with both the existing AmigaOne boards and the new TSi109 based design and I need time to analyze the issue. I will be available for questions in #Amigaworld on irc.amigaworld.net at 1500 hrs EDT. Apologies for those anxiously awaiting the demonstration.

These things can be prevented if the hardware builders would just issue 2 weekly or monthly status updates. I'd rather have status report saying there are problems beyond any sane prediction instead of no news at all or some optimistic release date.

That's all we ask. Just a simple status update that is frequent and not late.

How about some photos to help maintain interest.

It sure would help gaining some confidence.. But my personal belief is that this project does not exist at all. That the demo was cancelled was the final drop and i have very little hope to see some hardware being released at all.

Why announce a demo when you dont know if the product even works? And was these modules not tested before a few hours before the show?? I feel sorry for those who was going to attend this demo. I hope they all got the message regarding that it was cancelled, so that they dont meet up for nothing.

Well, I thought that THIS particular project at least was fesible and would work! And you know how negative I am. Oh well, it's all academic at this point anyway.

@All vapourwarists

Why not quit moaning and get off your butts, pool your resources, and produce some boards yourselves.

@T_Power

Your source for that statement is? And if it's only available by pruchasing a subscription to a mag, forget it. We've about had it up to our ears with "only if you pay here can you know".

" Yo: I've never done a DPaint mockup, but will release pictures by Tuesday."

You can get selfeducated like Jery Elswood.

You have very lame excuses.

Self educated? Jery has probably had hardware fiddling as hobby since she was a kid. How long do you think it would take for me to self educate myself to her level?? 20 years maybe?

And ack does definitely have more funding than i do, if he is not a bluff that is.
I could not even afford the AmigaONE when it was avaliable, so how the hell would i be able to buy up a quanitity of cpu modules, chps and board layouts and then be able to do a production run afterwards?

I guess your definition of not having funding is completly different from mine.

You should stop posting crap...

Yes, if you are interested in the matter.

I am not sure. In the universities they will make you an engineer for about 5 years.

Still not enough funding to do serious hardware development. Development of boards can cost billion dollars.

Quote:

Neither do I. That's why I waited and bough µA1 instead.

Banks are your friends - they can give you a credit, if you provide them with sane business plan.

Quote:

As I said - serious hardware developments is expensive.

Yes, shouting with excitment, not meaning to be rude.
Why not join in on irc?
