Hardware News   Hardware News : Individual Computers: A600 Accelerator Delayed Indefinately
   posted by dan.hutch on 3-Sep-2006 15:58:14 (3190 reads)
New Products Delayed

The release of the A600 accelerator and the A500 version of the IDE controller Buddha will be delayed indefinitely. The main reason is contract work that will keep us busy for the next few weeks. Please refrain from requesting any of these products. The production of the new A1200 CPU slot connectors is going according to plan. The new products Catweasel MK2 anniversary edition and the A600 memory expansion are already available at out retail partners.

Uh!

The product is announced.

Then we are told to request the accellerator via email and to wait until vacations are over.

Then we are told it is delayed indefinitely!

Boy, do you realise what a powerfull word indefinitely is in the Amiga hardware community?

Then we are told;

####!

The only thing that would improve my humour would be solid information that 'the contract' is producing PV's for shipment, Post haste!

Those with better english than mine, could you explain what delayed indefinitely means? Could they just have said that they are not going to be released at all, never? And if yes, why use word delayed at all in that case?

Well, most important is that Catweasel got new drivers!

"delayed indefinitely" means they don't know how long it will be delayed for. I'm guessing 'contract work' implies that we aren't likely to find out what the work is unless the person who initiated the contract wishes it. On the bright side it sounds like it ought to make them some money, and I think all the companies that support Amiga could do with some of that!

Indefinitely: for an unlimited or unspecified period of time.

I would read this as not any time soon, maybe never. This is a real shame as I was looking forward to this upgrade for my A600, the 030 board looks very well designed.

Would the catweasel work and be installed on a desktop case of an A1200, I wonder?

nah, I read that is his first job, or the job that pays the bills has to come first.

A little bit more than "just a couple of weeks", or "when it's done" .

Anyhow, I'm looking forward buying that A500 IDE controller!!!

Just a thought and not really related but someone should really correct the spelling of Indefinately it may help our non english speaking Amigans.
