Sounds to me we've got nothing at all, but not even complaints?

Anyone know how to wedge this kernel into the original Amithlon install CD? Or how to do an install from scratch without booting that CD?

I've never been able to actually install Amithlon as the thing hangs just after the boing logo screen. It claims to load the large/small images, and then nothing, it just stops. I'd love to get this on my laptop (Athlon64, Radeon9700, NForce3) but have never been able to get anywhere with it.

The "about" link on the website doesn't have a link. What's the deal with this kernel project thing? All I remember about Amithlon is that the guy had to stop distributing it and then after a while there was no more news on it.

I am hoping to find that one out my self too. Seems a bit silly installing or even trying to install an old version of amithlon that is not going to work on a new pc without this new kernel.

There's no 'about' link because the web site was put up before I'd finished it. Sorry about that.

Amithlon basically consists of two parts, the emulator and the kernel. The emulator handles the work of emulating the 68040 and various bits of the Amiga system. It was written by Bernd Meyer and is commerical, proprierary software. Development was halted some time ago due to legal issues between Bernd and Amithlon's publishers.

The kernel is responsible for providing hardware access and low-level services, and contains drivers that the emulator uses for video, disk I/O and some other things. The kernel is covered by the GPL, so the source is available and anyone can work on it.

Over the past couple of years I've been working to update and improve the kernel so that Amithlon will work on modern hardware. I have no connection to Bernd, or anymore else involved with Amithlon. The 'Amithlon Kernel Project' is just a grand name for one enthusiastic Amithlon user hacking away at the kernel source in his spare time

Too late for what? Amithlons been useable for the past 8 years. This just adds more hardware, some of which didn't exist then.

Useable for 8 years ???

I'm quite sure Bernie would be interested in how you managed to use Amithlon 3 years before it's premiere

Sounds like a cool thing.

So you're improving the kernel dealy, not the emulator whozits, so your work is for people that already had bought Amithlon back when it was legal to be sold? Cool nevertheless.

I still have no idea how to swap my original Kernel with the new one. I have it installed on my HD and it all works fine. I just want the new kernel because it has more networkdrivers.
