Events   Events : Big Bash 4 - Live! Video Streaming (1pm UK time GMT+1)
   posted by A1200 on 14-Sep-2006 20:49:34 (7846 reads)
In addition to Amigaworld Radio, there will be an official live video stream

To view the video stream paste into your player the following url
http://bigbash.amigaworld.net:8000/;stream.nsv

Thanks to Godfreys Computer Services for providing the server & bandwidth and to DaveyD and DaveP for sorting out the software configuration.

If this server reaches max capacity use http://mossup.co.uk:9174/;stream.nsv (provided by mossup)

The official audio stream with Mikey_C is at:

Dialup: http://amigaworld.net:8000/listen.pls
Broadband: http://amigaworld.net:8002/listen.pls

This server has been fully tested and as long as there is no Internet issues, people unable to attend should be able to watch and listen to BB4 live from their computer. The video feed will only be accessible when the show begins.

The Free "full" winamp download option supports the stream used by the event.

DaveyD has also setup the URL .http://bigbash.amigaworld.net:8000 to go directly to the video feed.

The proper link is http://bigbash.amigaworld.net:8000/;stream.nsv

Please note that redirects will not work in winamp, mplayer or any other player, the above link must be pasted directly into the player usually by selecting 'open url'.

It appears that Mac hardware is unsupported.

Seems quite unbelievable.

if it works on mplayer for linux it should work for mac too. Windows users can use Winamp.

You need a player that supports Nullsoft Video (NSV) plus the VP6.1 codec.

It cannot be helped that Amiga does not have up-to-date development in this area. Hopefully some or most of you will have a platform or configuration that will allow you to watch the stream.

@a1200

True, but it's even worse that an amiga show chooses a non amiga format to stream in, at least last year amigbg and amiwest had a webcam we could access.

After all it was someones decision to use a non amiga compatable format. We have native os4 and classic webcam software, shame we can't use it on one of the few oppourtunities a year we get.

I agree with Severin - a more compatible solution would have been nice. No PC/Mac hardware in this household either. Have to wait for the detailed show reports, then.

The show begins tomorrow, right? On the 16th but at what time? I was hoping to listen and watch the show.

Anyway, i know i need WinAmp (i have 2.79 wich i think should work) but what player do i need to use? Has for the VP 6.1 codec, it's already here but the player is another matter. I use Media Player Classic 6.4.9.0 (...not the one that comes with windoze!) but is that one enough? I hope you guys understand what i'm trying to say...

Thanks in advance!

I will get up at 5 AM local time and try to attend BB4 virutally. I have the latest Wookie Chat and Tunenet installed on my A1 for IRC and Audio. I have the latest Winamp installed on my PC for video. With a fresh pot of coffee and a little luck, I might just get it all to work. May the Server and Bandwidth gods be with us!
