Price would definitely make the difference to me.

Until now I only considered the "official" way (OS4) but hey, this is a 160¤ HW and should have enough power for what I plan to use it for.

Are there any rumours or, better, confirmed information about MorphOS pricing structure for Efika?

This is wonderful news!

Renewed hope for the platform!

Heck, since we are at this particular site, I think that a few is in order!

Will AROS be next?

Do you guys remember the Super Bundle? Looks like it's coming back for the EFIKA!

This is a very good day.

Note that I have no idea, but why should the price for the whole deal be anything different than the $199/160EUR mentioned? That's how it was with the Pegasos ...

Well, I don't know.

As I said before, not only price was in general too high for current amigaos-like HW, but I was more interested in the "official" way, i.e. AmigaOS 4. So please don't blame me.

Now that MorphOS has a chep HW to run on, well... we can talk about considering it!

Jokes apart, are you telling me MorphOS was free of charge during the Pegasos era or what?!

@ Turrican3

Yes, and the price is still annouced to decline down to 99 US$. Will take a while, but it will come. With taht price tag the combo becomes *very* competetive.

@Zylesea

200$ (160¤) including OS is very very very good IMHO.

(as always not comparing the system price to a PC clone, but to previous amiga-like HW/SW combos, both official and non-official.
Of course Efika is not as powerful as a G4, but I've been an Amiga user for too long to underestimate the importance of a low-end system)

99$ (80¤?!) including OS would be excellent to say the least.

EDIT fixed errors

@ ironfist

Regarding the superbundle:

How about HOLLYWOOD?

A one of the most prominent creativity applications on the platform today IMHO!

Yes! And it still is, both for Pegasos and Amiga's!

I guess they figured that they wouldn't make any money worth mentioning anyway on a few hundreds/thousands sales, and that this price would only work in a counterproductive way since it would raise the cost for creative people that may produce "content" (hehe ) to get involved. No platform is better than its applications. Maybe they thought it was better to give it away for free to this little community, and later make money on OEM deals instead. At least that's what I think. And it was easy back when Genesi actively supported MorphOS development financially (up to MorphOS 1.4.0 or so). Hmm, maybe this news item is a sign of some kind of resumed support?

There are three Hollywood related projects:

1. Small footprint Thin Client, Information Kiosk, Internet Telephone

2. EFIKA VJ live set

And,

3. Hollywood itself (fixed that).

Any more good ideas beside Port AROS To EFIKA...(nudge, nudge...)

I would really like one of those to build it in my A4000 micronik tower, sort of Siamese system.

@Hondo

Because, while not branded, it's also an amiga solution for amigans. Genesi/BBRV is delivering what AOS4 desperately needs: cheap hardware.

Now we just need to get AOS4 on it to be complete. And then I'll get one.
