Software News   Software News : PureBasic Amiga OpenSource
posted by elwood on 15-Dec-2006 18:46:07 (2756 reads)
As the AmigaOS version of PureBasic is not actively supported anymore, we decided to open as much code as we could do. Therefore, the whole commandset of PureBasic (beware, written completely in 680x0 assembly), the IDE and some other tools are available for modification. As the compiler source is shared between all the versions of PureBasic, it remains closed.
If you do a bug fix, an improvement or anything else which could make PureBasic for AmigaOS better, don't hesitate to send us your patch, it will be included in the next release.
We don't plan to work on the AmigaOS libraries anymore, but the compiler has been ported using the lastest v4.00 branch, so we will support any future version of the compiler, but without implementing CPU specific features. For example, the "Macros" are available on AmigaOS 4.00 compiler, as it's a compiler feature, but "quad" and "double" are not, as they need a CPU specific implementation.

And before you ask, the guide says:
- 68000 and 68020+ support (PowerPC support in progress).

Thanks to Frédéric Laboureur for this move.

Try here.

The sources are in PureBasic/Sources.

Kind regards,

Francis.

So, is anyone going to take up the gauntlet and port PureBasic over to AmigaOS 4 as well as updating the command set?

I didn't say this in my last post, but Fred and the rest of the PureBasic team for doing this!

Kind regards,

Francis.

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

I like PureBasic, it is ideal for games and gui applications.

I would be willing to donate ££s to get this software ported on Amiga OS.

Amiga is in serious need of a simple up-to-date basic programming environment.
