News   News : Amiga fails to deliver cash, loses naming rights to Kent arena
posted by bloodmoney on 31-Jul-2007 9:37:21 (8400 reads)
The city of Kent dumped tech company Amiga as naming-rights sponsor for the city's planned hockey arena after the company failed to deliver a promised down payment Monday.

Amiga was supposed to pay $2.5 million by 5 p.m. to secure the $10 million, 20-year naming-rights deal for what would have been called The Amiga Center at Kent.

I have expected this and have wondered for some time if this was the intended outcome all along.

What a scum bag. Amiga = another worthless 21st century Capitalist p.o.s. just lie cheat and steal. I wish nothing but the worst for this company and more importantly the people whom run it.

I am not surprised with this news at all. The people behind Amiga, Inc. are not worthy of being there. They never should have been there in the first place. Bill and his co-workers should leave while they can.

Maybe we, the Amiga community, should rally ourselves and ask the original Amiga team to help the Amiga get back on track, but that's just me...

That was a very 'brave' offer from a company without income.

However it was a very good idea! If ever I have posession about 10 million dollars, and have a vision for the future of Amiga I will spend it for building names for sure. Yeah, what else could rise that brand again?

@yetihw

In all reality Amiga cannot do anything. It is the people running or in charge of Amiga who are responsible for the company's actions.

Don't blame Amiga! Blame you know who!

lol

why would they announce first that they would have their name on this arena when they (probably) know they don't have enough money..

I sure hope Hyperion wins the court case.

Smart move not handing over $2.5M while in the middle of a court case for an OS they paid for but haven't got.

They expected to be shipping stuff by now and generating a cash flow.

If they're smart they will pay out previous employees... as past debts are affecting their image.

Certainly it's a small amount (much less than $2.5M) to invest in a clean image.

I'm watching the court case with great interest... Everything will come out in the wash.

Well, i can hardly say i'm any surprised by this. Amiga Inc has been jeoparty the whole Amiga community, and this is the lesson they have to deal with as a consequence to their misbehaviour...

Too bad, Amiga Inc. You would have done great if you only served the Amiga community the way you were supposed to do. You failed, and this is one of many consequences you have to face as a company...

Shame on you, Amiga Inc..

I already thought during the court case that it might have been that Amiga Inc. only wanted to show their involvement in "big business" with their name to underline they are still alive, which one could hardly say otherwise by only releasing some PDA-games in a few years now...

You really expect us to believe that on April 17th when they made the naming deal that they were not preparing for the lawsuit they filed on April 26th? LOL!

Says who, besides you? How many copies of AOS 4 would that be you think? Would they even break $1000 USD in sales in that time? For what hardware? Again, LOL!

That is it for the Amiga brand then.. It is now officially completely worthless, as i doubt anyone would want to deal or buy a brand name that is linked with all the #### that has been happening under current management.

They certainly do the best they can to destroy the brand. What a bunch of pathetic amateurs at Amiga Inc.

It would be right about NOW that I am totally, completely and utterly ASHAMED to even tell people I like the Amiga. Because guess what? Amiga screwed up in a BIG way and have almost driven the last nail in the coffin - it wouldn't matter but we already needed a coffin twice the size of a normal one to fit all the other nails in !!!!!!!

I kept coming back HOPING, but now what's the point? Promises and promises since 2000+ and it's getting closer to 2008 all the time and STILL NOTHING but broken promises - now they can't fool SOME of us anymore they decided to branch out and go after people OUTSIDE the community to make promises to and soil the Amiga's name there too.

Enoughs enough, I think WinUAE is all that's left for most people now, no more fun and games THAT is the reality if it's not, show me what's out there we can all buy TODAY, I think most of us are now sick of all the different promises and have been for some time, but stuck around anyway .......
