News   News : Gateway Sold to Acer
posted by -Sam- on 27-Aug-2007 20:07:57 (3058 reads)
Gateway is no more - having been sold to Acer for $710 million dollars. They never really recovered after selling off their European business and will now form part of the Taiwanese PC manufacturer. Link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6965520.stm

This must mean that Acer now owns the Amiga patents. I bet they don't even know they own them.

Maybe they're after the Amiga patents. Although $700m might be a little overpriced..

Ahh, so the title needs to be corrected to "Gateway to be sold to Acer" then... ;)

Money talks and a bull walks. Hope they don't go belly up like the curse goes. Now this would be a big-one (again) for Amiga-patents. If a wise-guy does not say in the lead: What patents;)

Acer probably thinks an Amiga1200 is an oversized keyboard or something similar.

I think the headline is misleading, as it has not yet been sold to anyone.
The sale is from what i understood still under negotiation, which means it might not even happen...
