News   News : Has Amiga Inc changed CEO?
   posted by DaveyD on 27-Apr-2003 12:58:47 (36762 reads)
Given the rumours, we asked fleecy the following...

"Has Amiga Inc changed CEO?"

Fleecy: As of this moment Bill McEwen is the CEO of Amiga and if a new CEO was to be brought in, it would be because of Amiga expanding as a company and Bill needing to concentrate on being Chairman and President - currently he is CEO as well and three top jobs in a company that is attracting the attention we are is at least one job too many.

Any CEO to be brought in would be as part of the team and would be totally in sync with the current strategic direction of the company.

If someone is posting information to the contrary then it can only be for ulterior motives.

Ah yes.... I remember that now... My apologies to Amiga.org for thinking bad things about them. I just couldn't imagine why everytime I've looked over there, I saw no sign of this conversation when it's everywhere else. Now it makes more sense. I'll dig into the second page.

I have a thought here.

If Gary Hare is such a veteran, then wouldn't it be highly unlikely that he would be trading in his CEO job somewhere else for a CEO job at Amiga.

Amiga is not pulling in the big buks yet so there is no way he would get paid what he is used to.

You can find it here.

No prices for guessing who said it...

@PulsatingQuasar

I'm sure you are right. Fleecy already said in one of the posts above what Gary's involvement with Amiga has been. He also said that it would be Gary's decision if he wanted to come work for them, which would indicate that as of this moment, he hasn't.

If someone of such high praise would come to work for Amiga, it would only boost my confidence in what is going on behind the scenes, that we are not privy to.

@PulsatingQuasar
Yeah, this guy has got an impressive resume and I was going to bring this particular point up myself.
I think he would have to take a considerable paycut if he did come to Amiga, I just hope this entire shamozzle does not scare him off, which may indeed have been Bill Bucks intention all along.

This kind of thing is NEVER going to end, not until BB is muzzled or he is somehow removed from Genesi.

I just hope that one of these days those Morphos zealots realize that Genesi really does not give a d*mn about the Amiga, they just want to use it for thier own nefarious purposes.

But for gods sake Amiga Inc. sort out those t-shirts!
And ensure that those people that got those coupons, get full value(if this has not already been done)

@Fleecy and Kay

It's no secret that Nate Downes either lives close or knows people that live close to Sno-town.

I'm not accusing him specifically but it's a possibility and, from what I've heard of some of their IRC sessions, he has been checking on the building.

back on topic is there any legal position that can be taken ? if bbrv is proved to be wrong, surely this effects the livelyhood of certain ppl who post here and others, and wont the existing court case be affected by his spreading of lies against AINC?

again i point out the *if*

so then what is the status of 'the building'?

I'm an ex amiga user who wants to come back but Genesi is not my route. BB being the prime reason. If AInc is in dire straits then I would like to know. I have some dosh to spend on a new computer but if the aone is obsolete and it's down to the pegasos then forget it I'm off to the the mainstream

Everton? Villa? Arsenal? ENGLISH LEAGUE??!?

You know, last I looked, Snoqualmie was in the USA. You guys should be talking AMERICAN football. The draft WAS this weekend, after all. You should be supporting your LOCAL NFL TEAM - the Seattle Seaha...

um, never mind. Everton is probably better.

I cannot comment on it since there is a possibility of legal action.

I find it hard to believe that you can't coment on that, i mean if everything is the way it's suppose to be... and what do "legal action" have to do with Amiga.inc office activeties??
At the same time you expect us not to believe Bill$.

I know that we aren't suppose to know every single detail about what goes on behind scene but both you and i know that this comunity is not an ordinary one, plenty of us have dedicate our life to this litel computer and made it what it is... in other words we are the rightfull "owners"
and thats why i and others want you (Amiga.inc) to be more upfront whith things going on and thats a tough line to walk when runing a bussiness in an ordinary fashion and at the same time please a nutty :o ;) (IMHO) comunity.

best regards -a future developer-

Thanks Fleecy for the update.

IIRC Bill M has always signed his posts "President and CEO, Amiga Inc". Maybe people don't realise that most companies have 2 people to perform these roles. So *IF* there is to be a new CEO at Amiga this must be a good sign. After all it means they can afford two wages

not to mention the obvious here but its the Pegasos that is obsolete not the Aone :)

all in all when there aint anything left to say about your own products start chatting about your competitors.

@Muffin

From day one, Amiga has had a unique business/employee model. Most of us, including myself, that are working for Amiga do not even live in the area in which Amiga HQ is located. Some commute/work from European countries. Does this make any difference to the company? No. We are here, we are walking, talking, working and networking with our peers and partners.

Products are being developed. Some of them, if not by Amiga explicitly, are being developed under our direction or due to our sponsorship.

The bottom line is:

1. Eyetech has AmigaOne hardware shipping as we speak (type)
2. Hyperion AmigaOS4 development continues.
3. Amiga Inc has 2 AmigaDE/Amiga-Anywhere for PocketPC products on the shelves (sponsored by Microsoft) at CompUSA (or at least in their Internet store - I haven't checked the physical CompUSA shelves).
4. Amiga Inc. has products for sale in our online store at http://www.shopamiga.com

Does this activity look to you like Amiga is dead? If so, you'd better get your heart monitor checked.

with the info gatherd here and from what bbrv claim i can only come to the conclusion that bbvr are not completly lying but they are exaggerating(alot), one of their ways of propaganda...twist the truth a bit to undermine...and throw is some little extra for the entertainment.

ways of the weak.."
weak ways indeed..."
