News   News : Has Amiga Inc changed CEO?
posted by DaveyD on 27-Apr-2003 12:58:47 (36799 reads)
Given the rumours, we asked fleecy the following...

"Has Amiga Inc changed CEO?"

Fleecy: As of this moment Bill McEwen is the CEO of Amiga and if a new CEO was to be brought in, it would be because of Amiga expanding as a company and Bill needing to concentrate on being Chairman and President - currently he is CEO as well and three top jobs in a company that is attracting the attention we are is at least one job too many.

Any CEO to be brought in would be as part of the team and would be totally in sync with the current strategic direction of the company.

If someone is posting information to the contrary then it can only be for ulterior motives.

I'm an ex amiga user who wants to come back but Genesi is not my route. BB being the prime reason. If AInc is in dire straits then I would like to know. I have some dosh to spend on a new computer but if the aone is obsolete and it's down to the pegasos then forget it I'm off to the the mainstream

I think there are many who feel this way. Not that I disliked the Pegasos hardware, but rather the person behind the company. I would welcome all sorts of hardware to become "Amiga Certified", but not at the hands of the current Genesi management (if you can even call it that).

In fact if any company needs new management, it would be Genesi. Mr Buck may be attracting attention with his antics now, but eventually people will turn away uninterested.

there are even more users of the Nokia Media Terminal(limited release in Sweden for less than 2 months) than MOS users, MS PocketPC isnt even on the same planet.

it was they tested the market with it for a little while then canceled. It shipped with a early release of the software on it though.

It was then canceled along with the hole department in Norrkoping(unfortunately). you used to be able to download the Linux SDK off ostdev.net but that´s down and the sourceforge project page is somewhat stale:(http://ostdev.sourceforge.net/).

The device name would be Media Terminal 510S.

Does this activity look to you like Amiga is dead? If so, you'd better get your heart monitor checked.

I imagine you realize how little most of these points have to do with the current health of Amiga, Inc. 1) Eyetech's project, not AI's. 2) Hyperion's project, not AI's. 3) Old news. How long ago were those games published, how long ago was the agreement made with MS? 4) How much new content? Isn't it all months old? In fact Amiga could be dead and the body quite cold if these four points were the only signs of life. Something more current (from Amiga, Inc. itself, not from partners, and not the follow-on from deals made months ago) would be more reassuring.

" I just hope this entire shamozzle does not scare him off, which may indeed have been Bill Bucks intention all along."

Now, that is a scary thought :(( There may just be a sad reason why Bill Bucks is doing this :(

@Jonas
not to mention the obvious here but its the Pegasos that is obsolete not the Aone :)

all in all when there aint anything left to say about your own products start chatting about your competitors.
-------------------

Oh. And dear me was under impression that Peg/MOS was the only worthwhile to discuss.
Enjoy LinuxOne Jonas

Back to the topic though. If Buck's been ####ting all us and given away false rumours, and my god, the first time in a few years we can actually use the world FUD in correct perspective, aren't Amiga Inc. obligated to sue Genesi? At least thats how the real world works, don't know if thats the case in our little community here though.

For god's sake Gary be a man!

Admit that it's in your interests to see Amiga Inc. die, rather that all this "would be more reassuring" crap. There is no point discussing something with someone if they aren't going to be honest about thier motives, frankly it's pathetic.

Indeed, gary_c is very much Pro MorphOS, has a Pegasos running MorphOS, with his previous postings on Amiga.org and ANN are very much Anti Amiga.
It is Ludicrous for him to try and pretend to be a neutral, when clearly he has made his position very clear previously.

At least you know where you stand with HooliganDCS, he makes his position very clear.

Regards

Well, not every company releases new products every few months. But if the company was dead, why do we hear from them every week (Ask Fleecy) and every month (CAM)? Anyway, I'm sure Amiga Inc's own employees (and indeed the CTO) would know more about such things than you, or Bill Buck for that matter. And please, DO consider the possibility that Buck had his own motives for what he wrote about this, just like he had his own motives for spreading uncertainty about the performance of the AmigaOne's chipset and for lying about Ben Hermans' profession (claiming he wasn't a real lawyer).

Ahem...have you forgotten his statements about the AmigaOne? Don't you think those were meant to spread Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt about his competitor's products?

Sadly I would have to agree considering the level of defence gary_c puts up for the wrongs BB does. I always considered him a rational well versed MOS supporter, but now it's clear to me that his personal interests far outweigh his reasoning.
