Really nice news - is U-Boot required or is the SLB started from Open Firmware?

No, it boots on OpenFirmware. Multi-boot is possible.

With the progress in hardware for OS4 the last year I believe that only time stands in the way of OS4 on any PPC hardware! OS4 (legally) on Mac anyone..?

I have a G4 Mac mini that's just begging for OS 4.

I can't believe my luck! I just bought a second hand Peg2 G4 and thought maybe I paid too much for it. With this news prices are bound to shoot up so it'll probably look like a bargain. Being able to run both MorphOS2.2 and AOS4.1 on the same machine will be great, can't wait!

@Drako

8500 is that a older card? I have 9200 and it works.

Looks like drivers are for the same cards as for a1. So, if 8500 supported in a1, then will be on peg2. if not, then no luck :)

I'm sorry but I really don't understand the decision to support a few more hundreds of second hand boards whilst there are tens of thousands of Mac Mini's and also Powerbooks to run OS 4 on.

8500 is faster (is the fastest r200 card) and support higher resolution in overlay

@Drako

In the A1 the 8500 is supported for 2D, I don't think 3D works on the 8500 in the A1.
I swapped my 8500 out for a 9250 here and it works great.

Well, PulsatingQuasar makes here a good point.

I don't understand what makes Hyperion hesitate considering a port on MacMini or other Mac G4.
There are too many technical issues to solve that needs too much work for dead computers?
Please, consider it as they are available for a small amount of money.

Or please ACube, could you start developing a faster CPU based motherboard?
(Note here that I don't mean that the Sam440 is crap, I've got one and I'm really happy with it, but a G4 CPU is another thing...).

MorphOS developers maybe? or the CPU power or the type of HW configuration.

Wow, I'm amazed, what a big surprise!

LOL @ Blue Boingball

@those complaining:

what's wrong in supporting more hardware?

Finally proper hardware for OS4. Only took five years, but what the hell... Greetings to all Articia defenders!
