Announcement   Announcement : BOH goes digital
   posted by saimo on 13-Jul-2009 11:01:57 (2572 reads)
Campobasso, Italy - July 13th, 2009

EDITEL snc is happy to meet the popular demand for a digitally delivered version of BOH by making the ISO image of the CD-ROM available for download at the reduced price of just EUR 10.00. Customers will be entitled to buy, at any time, also the physical product by paying just the price difference (EUR 2.50) and the postage.
Moreover, the direct purchase of the boxed version, which continues to be available at the usual price of EUR 12.50, will give immediate access to the downloadable image.
The image contains the most up-to-date versions for AmigaOS, MacOS and Windows, as well as all the expansions released to date.
Prices do not include VAT 20%.

About BOH:

BOH is an original, retro-flavoured game of exploration and action.
You move in claustrophobic, traps-packed, mind-boggling battlefields searching for the Evil Masters, who throw countless enemies at you until you discover and face them in the final battle. Although your quests are made slightly less hard by the bonuses and power-ups scattered all around, carrying out the missions demands lots of concentration and quick reflexes.
With BOH the fun never ends: new missions can be added anytime and you can even create your own! And, as if that was not enough, you can also customize entirely its audio-visual aspect!
BOH has been created with lots of passion and care to offer, with its oldschool style, a fascinatingly different videogaming experience.

@saimo
Since you're doing something you said you'd never do (digital downloads of BOH), does that now mean you are also considering making it available to Windows users on Steam? I think you'd potentially sell a lot (compared to current sales), even in the worst case of bad advertising...

Actually I think I've always said that digital delivery was out of question for the moment being (f.ex., check check this answer I gave you). But that doesn't matter much, anyway.
There are some reasons why this choice has been made, and a deciding one was that the Italian postal service, starting from the 1st of July raised the minimum fee from EUR 5.30 to EUR 8.50 (and that's for EU countries without taking into account VAT!). Digital delivery is only the first move to enable people to get the game at a decent price.

No, it doesn't (at least for now). For a number of reasons I honestly don't feel like discussing (sorry, I'm busy and tired).

No doubt Steam would get me some exposure, but not just that.

Loads fast here now also. Maybe there was a run on your site earlier.

It could also be that the provider (a big one) had to limit the bandwidth for a while...
