Looking to make a $1000, port this app and I will pay you. If the dead BeOs can have a port so can Amiga OS, spread the word.

@trgse

porting the 1.0 branch would be a mistake. This branch is no longer maintained and will be replaced next month by the 1.4 branch. The 1.4 branch is more modern and had a lot of code cleanup, it will also be the base for the Next Netscape release.

Very good point, the AmiZilla website has a link to the 1.4 branch. The Pot is now $2221.

"Why just offer the cash to someone porting Mozilla? Why not just say "The first person to get a browser with GOOD support for DHTML, XHTML, CSS, and Flash". That way you are giving the IBrowse, AWeb and Voyager teams an incentive."

Because these other projects are comercial products, not open source projects and because reaching Gecko's standards support would require YEARS of full-time development by a decidated team of experts

We are not talking about "improved HTML+basic CSS", but support for HTML/XHTML/XML/DOM2/CSS2/MathML/EcmaScript/RDF/PNG/MNG/SVG...

I'm off seeing if any of the AWeb developers are interested in this effort. I definitely think it's interesting.

Wow - thanks to DiscreetFX; this could really make a difference

Perhaps when OS4 is out, someone could do something similar for an Office suite. Or maybe this whole idea could be extended, with a site where people put money into the pot, and vote on the application

Whatever happens, I'm sure we'll finally get that Mozilla port

@Corwin

the 1.0 branch is not unmodern (or are you calling netscape 7.2 unmodern?) it's stable which the 1.4 branch will not be for quite some time yet, the 1.5 branch will be opened soon why not use that one then it's really modern.

the 1.0 branch IS maintained and developed because this is the branch that netscape uses.

@trgse

Netscape 7.02 rules compared to IE6, but it is already obsolete compared to current Mozilla versions. The next Netscape major version which will be released in a month or two will be based on the 1.4 branch, Netscape coders haven't been working on 1.0 code for a while. Mozilla.org already announced that the 1.4 branch will replace the 1.0 branch as soon as 1.4 final is out.

The 1.5 trunk involves a major rewrite of the code since it is the beginning of the componentization of Mozilla, don't expect it to be mature before at least 1.7.

I think we should do the same thing for OpenOffice because having that on the Amiga would be good thing also.

Then we will also have pretty good Word support.
