A games package for AmiCygnix containing 22 games is now available on OS4-depot. Most of them are board or card games, but there are also some action games and a fractal explorer:

- The ace of Penguins: A collection of simple solitaire games.
- BomberClone (Bomberman clone with network support)
- GLightOff
- gSoko (Sokoban)
- gTans (Tangram game)
- GtkAtlantic (like Monopoly - with network support)
- Sudoku-Savant
- XaoS (fractal explorer)
- XEmeraldia (tetris variation)
- XGalaga (shoot 'em up)
- XLightOff
- XMahjongg
- xtris (multiplayer tetris with network support)

Except the games included in "The ace of Penguins", all games can be installed separately.

Will test them all and see how they are.

Thank you.

Just a general question, were it possible to have other Linux titles running via amicygnix, or what limitations are there?

For example, would a Linux strategy type game, or shoot em up, that is not currently available for OS4.x, be easier to port to amicygnix rather than OS4?

Cheers

DONATIONS: http://www.schwan-clan.de/index.php?lang=en&fr0=AmigaFrameNav.php%3Flang%3Den%26sub%3D0&fr1=amiga%2FDonate.php%3Flang%3Den

AmiCygnix WebSite:
http://www.schwan-clan.de/index.php?lang=en&fr0=AmigaFrameNav.php%3Flang%3Den%26sub%3D0&fr1=amiga%2FAmiCygnix.php%3Flang%3Den

Well considering that AmiCygnix runs even better than ever, (maybe its the quick fixes)
who knows. But this unix desktop environment is really taking off.

1) Really fast - enough
2) Loads of useful software now available
3) Compile your own

We also need more, more and more ports... Skype for Linux and Java for LinuxPPC could be some really good candidates.

Very impressed here... I must repeat it 10x

I would also like to configure it, so I can quick launch the unix apps, direct from WB Screen and see the windowed app - almost like as if it was an Amiga app window. Seamless integration

Please SIR CAN I HAVE SOME MORE!

@ Gebrochen & Templario

Yes, it should be easier to port linux games on AmiCygnix. But 3D games are a problem at the moment - I have no 3D library yet. Also the performance is too low for 3D games.

I have some more games here, maybe they are interesting for you:

Pioneers: http://pio.sourceforge.net/screenshots0.11.html

Xblast: http://xblast.sourceforge.net

The rest are some SDL games, which are also available as native ports.

Any other suggestions?

@ all

Enjoy the waste of time

@ meet.mrnrg

Thanks for your commendation

Yes, you're right - there are a lot of projects, who could be ported using AmiCygnix. Skype would be a very hard job (Just like Firefox), but Java could be a nice project.

At the moment nobody can compile his own AmiCygnix software, the SDK is still missing. It will be the next package I want to publish.

If you need help to create your own launch script to launch a single app in a WB window, just tell me. The problem is, that you can open only one WB window, because the display driver uses PIP windows. Only one PIP window is possible.

I have made a small donation some seconds ago

It was a thing I would like to made since a long time Hope this little donation will help to have amicygnix with better speed in a not too far distant futur... (Yes I know It's will be hard).

For sure the personnal wish I really want is to chat with a webcam program with amicygnix.

driver: http://linux-uvc.berlios.de/#status

easycam: http://blognux.free.fr/?p=13

@ Mrodfr

Thank you very much!

More speed is under development - hope it works...

A webcam program is very hard to port. I have not much experiences in porting hardware drivers. Will have a look at it, when I have some time, but chances are low, sorry.

@CygnusEd

No problems I'm happy you are happy.....

The speed is the most important point. But maybe porting webcams feature on Amicygnix will help after someone who want to give webcam to AOS4 after (maybe corto with his sonix attempt).

Also maybe a music player for amicygnix will be ineresting...

@CygnusEd and meet.mrnrg

“Skype for Linux” is commercial I think, but yes a VOIP solution is needed,
I love to see Ekika but its a deficient project,
