best of luck Wayne & thank you for the great site & dedication to the Amiga community for the past 15 years
Perhaps the community can get together & purchase & run the site If so, I'll chip in for sure

The price is not too high.
Just go and have an expertise on domain prices and you will see.
But if someone wants to add money into *this* name, is another question...

Wayne is saying for 10,000 USD you get all the data too, not just the name.

I personally don't see that being worth that kind of money. But god bless if he gets the money, especially if he has debts to pay down like he mentioned. ( I know that situation - lol).

Wayne is selling, or at least thinking (reading his post he seems a bit reluctant in a way) and the buyer gets everything, no strings attached if I get him right. (Tho his follow up post do seem to imply the new owner is expected to keep it running as is)

Kinda means someone can buy the amiga.org, dumb the database and turn it into a "find a girl" site and make a million from it.

Sad...

Before joining Amigaworld.net, Amiga.org was my main site to find Amiga information on the web. As is the case with Amiga magazines, Amiga community web sites will fade away if the user base does not expand. Again, sad...

I don't know about this whole thing selling user based sites. Surely the site and data belongs to its users? without them there would be no site....

Sure Wayne has invested countless years into A.o and god bless him for doing so, im just not convinced its morally right to put it up for sale..... What about all the mods and admins there.... They have invested countless hours too... infact everyone who uses the site has so should they be entitles to a slice of the cake?

Just a few musings from myself

But Wayne made a good point in reply to such an argument. Youtube makes money off of user generated content, so do plenty of other for-profit sites (such as the company behind sites such as http://icanhascheezburger.com/ ). Sites that have been bought and sold for money in the past. Why should his site be any different? Also the man says he has credit card debt he wants to pay off with this. Seems pretty reasonable a motivation, especially when he seemed to indicate he has not been into Amigas for years.

And anyone who still is not happy with this can just abstain from providing his site with any further content if it really bothers someone that badly.
