   posted by tomazkid on 5-Jan-2010 16:13:22 (8628 reads)
The puzzle for X is still not completely solved, some details are missing, but today a big piece of the puzzle was revealed.

It is about a new PPC-hardware from A-EON, named AmigaOne X1000.

Some specs revealed at http://a-eon.com/6.html :

AmigaOne X1000 Specs

* ATX Formfactor
* Dual-core PowerISA™ v2.04+ CPU
* "Xena" XMOS XS1-L1 128 SDS
* 7.1 channel HD audio
* 4x DDR2 RAM slots
* 10x USB 2.0
* 1x Gigabit Ethernet
* 2x PCIe x16 slots (1x16 or 2x8)
* 2x PCIe x1 slots
* 1x Xorro slot
* 2x PCI legacy slots
* 2x RS232
* 4x SATA 2 connectors
* 1x IDE connector
* JTAG connector
* 1x Compact Flash

( All specs are subject to change)

As well as a custom chip named "Xena" with a "Xorro" slot providing access.

CPU still unknown.

Some additional info can be gathered from the threads in forum as well.

When do we learn the rest?

Release date.

CPU.

Full website.

Case shots.

I thought they'd give us some case shots.

I'm not complaining though!

And let's not forget how Hyperion managed to implement all this hardware violence in OS4 support for it

I wonder what the front end will be like for accessing/using the Xena chip. Also I wonder if it will be possible to download configs for it.

Could be cool. Imagine being able to download a hardware PC emulator, arcade machine or console. Perhaps even allow users to play with designing their own GPU?

Crikey - the more I think about it the more amazing the software will have to be to be able to allow you to control it.

There is so little on the web detailing exactly what XMOS can do that I am hungry for more information.

Can we see the new case please? Go on.

Any ATX case will do, I would think.

But, yes, we all want an AmigaOne X1000 specific case.

I will be one of the first to order.

But I'd also like to have an Amiga branded case please.

Hmmmm, did I miss an announcement about an OS 4.x version with SMP? That would be great news, otherwise there's an unused core in this machine.

And I also wonder if A-EON is for real and not another AntiGravity hoax? I'm always hopeful yet always skeptical, too. ;0

I like to idea of a complete Amiga computer again. Although I hope it wont be too long before a lower spec/cheaper CPU version comes along as I am not sure I will need all that power, or be able to afford the X1000.

@Rogue - Any idea when we will get more news on the software?

@amigauser

If that's your final say in this matter, you should change your username to something else.

the name AMIGAUSER must never be used in vain

Hi Rogue,

How about the Amiga OS 4.x API, is it worth it to (re)learn the Amiga API we know or will it change drastically in the near/medium future?
A new Amiga will not win without new software. I still have all my RKM around but they're outdated,. Any update on new RKM?

Thanks
kml
