Software News   Software News : jahc leaves the Amiga to program iPhone games
   posted by jahc on 16-Feb-2010 3:00:03 (4796 reads)
Just joking, Amigas are still my passion. But I did make an iPhone game named Yay, BUNNY! for the iPhone a few weeks ago. I had trouble with the performance on the phone, and its still a little glitchy, but its pretty fun if you dont take it too seriously. :) It uses Allegro 4.9.17 and C. It's in the style of Superfrog, where you collect the collectables in order to open the exit which is located somewhere on the stage. Jump on the baddys to kill them and avoid poison apples that stun bunny momentarily.

Theres a Lite version if you wanna play Level 2 of the full version for free. If you like it you can buy the full version for $0.99 usd. Check it out on iTunes. Search for yay bunny. :)

SabreMSN is still progressing, dont worry! (that's despite me starting a software development course recently).

Don't forget a Maemo/MeGo version (Nokia N900, etc).

AmigaWorld.net staff - I fail to see in what way this qualifies as AmigaOS-related news.

Because jahc is one of the more active Amiga developers, responsible from Wookiechat & SabreMSN and other titles. As he is now tarting himself around on other platforms, I think we users need to know! :)

Seriously, he is a good developer and a little discretion to dedicated people like him on not-quite-Amiga stuff doesn't hurt - and who knows what will become of his iPhone connection? Amiga on a PDA? Agh! Amiga Inc who?! lol

@Petah

because general computer news sometimes makes it to Amigaworld, and because I'm mainly developing Amiga stuff I thought you guys would be interested to know what I'm doing with myself these days and that you might wanna help support me by buying the game. :)

@ka1se

It doesnt seem impossible to port it to OS4 even though Allegro 4.2 and 4.9.17 are very different. It's hard to say. the graphics drawing functions are all different, the allegro bitmap structure is different, I have to put pink backgrounds (255,0,255) in all my graphics files - to make use of transparency under 4.2, and I dont know if the timer or sound calls are the same. I dont think I can access ->w and ->h directly anymore either.. or maybe I can? not sure..

I'd like to suggest a couple of things:

A) A version that runs on Symbian (or at least the N97)

B) If you do something really dumb in the game, make the bunny go "moo"

@ ALL

Don't joke about it...

Jahc could earn good money from iPhone apps...

The more iPhone apps he does, the more money he can raise from people who bought it, and then he could even maintain himself enough to free him for developing lots of Amiga programs too.
