Announcement   Announcement : iMica Atom Starter Pack - Lowest Price £149.00
posted by clusteruk on 20-Feb-2010 6:17:34 (3136 reads)
As we have seen a large number of people showing interest in both iMica and Aros and as a lot have been building their own, I have decided to hunt the best deals I can from all over the country and put the iMIca starter pack together. This price is at present a SHORT term offer to see if it is viable, so get one now before we change our minds. This is not on our order page so contact us direct at clusteruk@hotmail.com for shipping and paypal payment details.

Damn! Every AROS computer announcement is a bargain!

Excellent work, Steve! I think those all computers will bring on many Linux users back!

I wish I was needing a PC now

While I might have not necessary needed another PC I was still considering buying iMica for a dedicated, supported and sexy looking AROS machine...

I'm done considering.

I ordered one :) It will be a perfect, low power, quiet machine for web, mail and IRC. :)

Hey,

This is a really good deal I admit, but just a quick question to ClusterUK, have you tried running Aros on one of these: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/167153

(I'm guessing the Ion isn't supported, but what about the sound, LAN etc?)

Anyway, It would make a really nice small form factor AROS machine if it worked!

Alex.

How well does Linux or, gulp, Windows work on one of those?

I personally intend to use it dual-booting into Ubuntu.

Here is some video about running Windows 7 on iMica:

Windows and Linux will run well on this board, however, it is important to note that this is using the single core Atom, Deadwood has ordered the dual core version. This is why I am not putting Linux as a dual boot option. If you want that then an extra £15 will get the dual core version.

This has been specified as a low cost Aros machine, because it only supports one core and needs little ram. If you want Linux look on the iMica order page to build one there with dual core board.

Interesting offer and iMica computer, I shall buy it with other condition, I shall can install in dual boot Windows XP to run BattleField 1942 and its mods, and for the two versions of Hollywood AROS and XP both cases for develop software for Amiga.

P.S.: I saw one video in YouTube, hummm, this case is very big for my taste, I prefer cases more little, is there this option available?

You're goin' to spend more money on the case, than on the rest of the iMica...

Unluckily, Mini-ITX dedicated cases are everything but cheap.

You could have the original case in the video for an extra £40. But as Paolo said they are expensive. Plus it sounds like you need the dual core Atom version. Single core is good for Aros but dual core is better that is why this version does not have Linux as well.
