Software News   Software News : Hollywood 4.7 now available
   posted by softwarefailure on 23-Apr-2010 13:56:34 (4284 reads)
Airsoft Softwair is proud to annouce that the coolest multimedia application on the Amiga planet is now available in a brand-new version. Hollywood 4.7 is another quality release brought to you by Airsoft Softwair and contains some cool new features as well as bug fixes and fulfillments of some user wishes. The biggest new feature in Hollywood 4.7 is certainly the new completely platform independent font backend (which means that TrueType text will now look exactly, pixel-perfectly the same on every system) as well as support for Unicode UTF-8 based text rendering. But there are other cool new features like support for embedded icons when compiling Windows and Mac OS X executables.

Here is a list of changes in Hollywood 4.7:

* Completely platform independent font backend
* Support for UTF-8 based text rendering (Unicode)
* Icons can be compiled into Windows and Mac OS X executables
* Extended layer functionality
* New inbuilt system fonts (sans, monospace, serif)
* Support for multiple joysticks also on Win32 and Mac OS X
* New TextureScroll example
* Various other new features and bug fixes

Although a lot of work went into this update, Airsoft Softwair decided to make Hollywood 4.7 available free of charge as a special gift for our loyal customers. The 4.7 update is available as a direct download (30 megabytes) in both Amiga and Windows versions for all customers of Hollywood 4.5. Please visit the Airsoft Softwair homepage for the download link of this freegrade.

In case you do not own Hollywood yet, you can place your order here and thus support future development of highly professional Amiga software. Thanks in advance!

Cool ! Is there any full change-log ? For example interesting to read more about "Various other new features and bug fixes". I not registered user at moment, just have interest in it. I also tryed to download that update, but inside everything in "diff", and Readme just the same as here, but it interesting to see full list of new features..

That's one hell of an update by the looks of things in the changelog

As I reported on the Hollywood Forum

Hollywood Forums

My Amiga update did not work at 1st, complaining of a missing library

Quote:
Cannot open pngalpha.library ! File: updatetool.hws (current line: 5 - in function: LoadSprite)

Seems it uses a lib that is not part of my standard OS4.1 install.

If you find yourself in the same situation, you can get the missing lib here :

pngalpha.library

Just copy the files from the libs folder in the archive to your LIBS: and try the installer again (no need for a reboot after copying, we're not running Windyblows )

Edit: I just noticed in the readme for the lib the name of the person who compiled it, a name that seems strangley familiar after working with Hollywood so much

Non other than Andreas Falkenhahn So the person that created my problem of not including the lib in the update, was also the one providing the solution, so can't be too mad at him can I, nah, still think he deserves a

So when does Hollywood become a self-contained OS? (Only said half tongue in cheek!)

BTW, the created executables must be getting pretty damn big now?
