AmigaOS.net gets a real face lift

Hello Amiga users past and present

After feedback from many in the Amiga Community, the team at AmigaOS.net have taken all your suggestions on-board to deliver a truly unique experience.

We'd like to announce that AmigaOS.net has undergone a complete face lift to give a completely new look and feel.

Visitors will now be greeted with a Workbench style layout and design.

There have been plenty of changes 'under-the-hood' especially in the download area and news pages to allow us to add new content more frequently and easily.

Over the course of the next couple of months there will be more much video content added to the website thanks to the arrival of a Sam 460ex Complete System at the AmigaOs.net 'office'; subsequently more software will be appearing in the download section.

A quick reminder you can submit your own software to the site using the web form inside the Apps section of the website. Please be aware that AmigaOS.net reserves the right to accept or decline any application; we are looking for exclusively for modern software that has some real end-user use with a complimentary look and feel of a modern hardware platform.

* Sorry, but we will not accept shell programs as they are clearly not applications in the modern sense.

There are however a couple of known layout problems we are trying hard to address, but we chose not to delay bringing the new website to you any further.

* Priority: Lightbox Overlay width issue (all browsers affected)
* Minor: All content flush left (opera only)

I do hope you all enjoy the look and feel of the new site, regardless of the Lightbox issue I do hope you enjoy the new look.

If you have any feedback positive or negative, please PM on this forum or alternatively contact us on info@amigaos.net.

Thank you

You could add a link to Amigaos.net

Anyway congratulations. This is shaping up very nicely.

Layout is a bit messed (Firefox 3.6.15) when choosing HW.

But overall its a big improvement, lighter colours looks much better.

I find it surprising that a site called "AmigaOS.net" has almost no useful information for AmigaOS3 users, who make up the vast majority of AmigaOS users worldwide.

Also, I reacted to this:

Quote:
This is the website of Hyperion Entertainment who are the official owners and developers of the one and only AmigaOS.

Does the site creator have some not yet disclosed information? Last time I checked, Hyperion did license, not own, "the one and only AmigaOS".

You must have missed their settlement with Amiga Inc. Yes, Hyperion do own AmigaOS (from 3.1 upwards). OTOH, they "only" hold an exclusive license to use the AmigaOS name.

Bloody awful if you use IBrowse, it is unreadable. It seems now too many Amiga sites want to cater for PC browsers only, or the poor half working ports like OWB available to us Amiga users.

I do hope that AWN does not do the same thing and break IB compatibility. It is the one remaining useable site that is still well laid out.

@BillE
I think you should point your complaints at the IBrowse team, neither the world or WWW stands still just because IBrowse doesn't see any updates for the last 5(?) years.

Fixed (at least on the article).

You have some spelling errors that I noticed as I quickly skimmed over it (e.g. Communities section - Amigans OS Forum - "wholly" - not wholely; Hollywood - multimedia is missing a "t"; Amigaworld, varieties is misspelt)

But it wasn't looking too bad in FF4.0 (just needed scripts to be allowed otherwise it broke horribly)
