Hardware News   Hardware News : New Uboot for Sam460
posted by elwood on 16-Apr-2011 15:03:36 (5808 reads)
Bassano del Grappa, Italy - 15, Apr 2011

ACube Systems is pleased to announce a new release of the U-Boot firmware for its line of motherboards Sam460ex.

What's new in this version:

- improved Radeon X1550, X1650, X1950 setup
- fixed a bug in the PCI-E setup which cures a crash when both a gfx card and an USB3 card were used
- DDR2 boost setup is now disabled by default, to enable it, set ddr2_boost to 1 from the U-Boot prompt
- removed a debug output from ext2fs.c

The updated installation guide describes in detail the usual installation method (ISO image) and alternative methods (TFTP). Inside the archive you will find both the ISO image and the TFTP updater

You can download installation archives from:

http://www.acube-systems.biz/index.php?page=hardware&pid=5

Additional information:

Please note: UBoot and UBoot updater makes use of GPL code and thus are both published under GPL.

The sources can be downloaded from:

or, using a direct link:

As reported elsewhere, the device doesn't appear in Media Toolbox yet so can't even attempt to use it, I think it is because the kmod for sam460sata.device is unavailable. Can the kmod be downloaded anywhere yet?

No, and irrelevant, the file doesn't exist in AmigaOS nor the Acube download.

I'm not in front of my Sam right now, anyway try to look inside the DEVS: drawer, it should be there. Copy the file in the kickstart drawer, add .kmod suffix and add it to the kicklayout file.

If it is not in DEVS: maybe your system was pre-installed and the file was left out. Try to look in your installation medium.

WARNING: BE SURE THAT THE LATEST UBOOT UPDATE HAS BEEN APPLIED BEFORE USING THE INTERNAL SATA.

Your simply suggesting I rename sam460sata.device to sam460sata.device.kmod? xD

A rose is a rose ...

It's just a name. The important part is making sure your Kicklayout refers to the file by the (path and) name it actually has.

Best regards,

Niels

@ djrikki

you can leave the name as is if you want. It's just that I prefer having a consistent naming scheme on my installation (.kmod ----> kickstart modules----> kickstart drawer)

Niels is correct (as usual )
Just be sure to put the right name in kicklayout.
