Amigaworld.net News   Amigaworld.net News : Server outage
   posted by sibbi on 16-Jan-2012 18:09:42 (4720 reads)
Hey there people,

We suffered some kind of issue yesterday morning which caused the server to become unresponsive, I haven't had time to look at exactly what went on, but I'll dig into it and see if it's something that we can prevent in the future.

Davey had the server rebooted after which the server did not come back up. The issue was a simple misconfiguration with regards to networking which caused the network interface to not be brought on line and the server was therefore not reachable.

After running a rescue procedure and then getting console access to the server, I was able to fix the error and bring the server back online.

We apologize for the extended outage

Ah well... the important thing is, Amigaworld is back again . Strange how one can miss the occasional 'fight' or misplaced discussion.

@DiscreetFX
Why on earth do you bother visiting that horrid site?

P.S. Was anyone stupid enough to take 'credit' for cracking Trevor's account(s)?

Good to have you back. The webs seems kind of empty when you are not around.

It is up.
Also NO.Amigaworld.net is up and running again, got up just a few hours before aw.net.

Can anyone confirm that the server outage had "nothing" to do with it being down as a result of an attack from outside?

I hope that was not the case, but with the recent events of members accounts being compromised, it was a concern of mine when I could not reach here for over 24 hours.
