Amigaworld.net News   Amigaworld.net News : SlimJim's short report on the AmigaOS4 tour event in Gothenburg
posted by SlimJim on 30-Jun-2003 20:33:48 (2927 reads)
I left Lund early in the morning for the 330 km km train-ride to Gothenburg and the AOS4 tour event. The event was held at a different venue to the AmiGBG event; it was very close to the trainstation and much easier to reach (albeit too small for a full-fledged event).

Thanks for the very informative report SlimJim. Nice to see you gave the OS a thorough playing with. It'll be nice to see how the fully PPC native version runs when it finally gets a showing too.

Sorry about the ... varying spelling and grammar

Does anyone know who was doing the recording ?, I think the video would be good to see, (and you know who to ask if you need somewhere to host some BIG video files )

hey ,i aint back in norway yet but i had to answer here to explain about the a1200 inside the amigaone :)

the card is owned by oleegil and is infact the first one i have ever seen , and it might be very hard to find later on..
anyway its an " Access" card , it has an amiga1200 with 030 28mzh onboard ( no accellerator) and it has an floppy drive on it aswell , u hook the access one up in an 5 *1/4 DISK bay in your amigaone tower :) , then you could also hook the output on this a1200 onto your tvcard (if you have one) to use the a1200 or whatever ... ofcourse 2 monitors is an option but since its 1 sys... why use 2 when ui can use 1 :)))))

anyway before i am about to enter my car for an 13+ hour long drive back to my amiga and my home , i would like to say hello to all old and new friends i met at the show , it was fun and it went smoothly!!!!!

pps: the access card (the a1200 board) was developed somewhere between 1997-1998 if i am correct and was mainly for the company\s who didnt want to use the cd32 for terminals , ie like buss stations and museums etc.
in other words its history was or is , its an info system.
its small and wonderfull.

cheers mates :)

"The first and only Amiga 1200 compatible board never built."

Heh.

Anyway, this board with an A1200 cpu slot and a mediator PCI bridge in a regular ATX box. Yummy :)

Well, okey, yummy a few years back perhaps.

Oh.... I was thinking an Amiga1200 on a PCI card. That would have been cool.

Yeah, the Access was never made in high numbers, if I remember. More of a novelty now than anything. I was hoping for some new product that we hadn't heard of yet. Oh well.

Let me relay this from the guy doing one of the video recordings:

Quote:

Comment in english for SlimJim to quote on the other sites he gave this report:
Some mishaps occurd from my part.
* I shot the event from the first row so I couldn't film the people sitting in the audiense. When both questions and answers came from behind me, there was nothing I could do.
* One of the Q&A sessions lasted longer then my DV-tape which means I had to swicth tape in the middle of the session. Valuable seconds were lost during the swicth.
* You name it when you see it.

ACG-Gothenburg were promised to get what my camera filmed.
