Thank you, Kicko! Gonna watch this tonight.

-----

Later that night...

Bravo! I'm very impressed with the video, with your music, with the X1000 and most especially with HD-Rec. I did not realize Thilo's program had so many capabilities. It's really a firstrate piece of software -- up there with Hollywood, IMHO, as a great modern Amiga application.

Kicko, I'm in awe that you were able to do the video postproduction under AmigaOS with our limited tools. It's encouraging to me that you got it done, even though it was difficult, because you shot the footage with a similar camera to my own. I shoot with a Canon 7D, which produces the same kind of files. I'm curious to know what format you transcoded the original files into, but I don't intend to do any similar work on this platform until I too have an X1000 in the house. I'm saving money furiously for that now.

Again, thanks. The video is a nice gift to the community.

Wow!
That is impressive.
HD-Rec is great, and the video is great as well.
I think this video is very good for the Amiga music community.

Thanks Kicko!

Great video Kicko, very informative and proves to those outside that the Amiga can still create some very cool music with the tools written for it.

I used ffmpegGUI to convert files. If i remember right mpeg4 and audio mp3. In SimpleSub i used mpeg4 and wmav2 for audio. That one worked best for me. The others gave me bad results.

I shouldn't write about the tool VideoClipper but then i mentationed it in the endpart of the video. Its KTadds nonreleased tool. Please let him finish it and @ll keep in mind all this is just tools for cutting, trimming, editing, pasting. Not full moviepackage with timeline for gfx and audio. Its all just tools and needs some knowledge.

All of his tools uses external tools like mencoder and ffmpeg. All has some kind of buggy, some old encoders. Some codecs have problems with others etc. Ofcourse KTadds apps could also have a bug or two. One thing to remind yourself. Mplayer probably also has some bugs or outdated codecs. For example. Many of the movies i endoded when i used fastforward the sound was out of sync with the picture. When i watched it on the windows machine with VLC, no problems. If i knew this when i started i would be finished week earlier :)

I recomend if you dont want to loose much time on rerendering, biting of nails, headaches go use some easy moviemakers like windows movie maker. Otherwise you can do it with all this tools with test and trial :) Ofcourse you can also mix, do some work on the miggy and the rest on the pc.

If you do it on the amiga and dont need to use several clips (only one) then ffmpeg is enough. VideoClipper will be for merging several clips into one. If you want to make still video (one picture) for your own music like my own material also ffmpeg is enough. Just ask howto and ill help.

@ll

thanks for the support. Its good for the amiga and also non amiga users too see we have a nice tool that works like cubase on other platforms.

Im looking forward for Digibooster too, using the old x0x way to do music. I have been missing it. As its going to have midi support in some later versions it will be even more interesting.

Even for digibooster folks hd-rec will be interesting. Just export the final tune into wav/aiff etc and load it into hd-rec and do some editing(master/effects). HD-REC is powerfull, its a full studio app, mixer, effects, plugins, sequencer and its open so other coders can help out or make own plugins etc.

Respect for your work. I have done some videos like this in the past and I know how hard this is.
You know a lot about HD-Rec, even if there is no documentation (shame on me).
On some parts I felt itchy to add some comments though.

@Wanderer

I learned at same time as your development goes. You remember all that trying to get me to send audio to my machinedrum thru midi ;) And all that trying to make it work on os4. It was alot of years since you started out with it.

Kicko, thanks for the extra details on how you achieved the postproduction work on your X1000. I think you will like playing with the Blender video editor once you're able to get that program running effectively with the expected video driver update. I've been fooling with ffmpegGUI and Blender's NLE a bit tonight with a couple of short, standard-definition video clips. It's kind of tedious for want of more CPU power on my Sam440, although perhaps I haven't discovered the ideal workflow. I also replicated the same work on my 2Ghz PowerMac G5 using Blender 2.49 just to get some notion of what it might eventually be like on the X1000, and it was easy going on that machine.

Anyway, sorry to be going on so much about video when the subject at hand is HD-Rec, but your project has been inspiring in more than one way! Meanwhile, I have gathered 50 percent of the funds needed for an X1000 puchase, but the next 50 percent is gonna hurt.
