| Ran GFX2DBench and uploaded my results for a variety of 32-bit screen results.
Thanks for this release! |

| Someone got a link to 2D bench results made with this latest setup tool?
(after 1 minute search I did not find these new results there) |

| I thought a PCIe based machine would be faster. AGPx2 = 533MB/s AGPx4 = 1066MB/s AGPx8 = 2133MB/s
G5 have fast memory controller so it should not be problem to reach that 320MB/s value with or without AGP/PCIe DMA.
Keep in mind that in addition to the cpu you can also use DMA to copy data to gfx mem, so even a G4 based mac could move data between memory and gfx mem reaching the maximum speed allowed by ram (that would be higher than cpu to ram writes). That's why DDR&DDR2 are useful on G4 based machines, the cpu can't take full advantage of DDR&DDR2 but all the rest of hardware can, so you can have textures in ram that are copied to gfx mem without cpu intervention at the maximum speed allowed by ram controller. |

| I have installed it, what happens next, somewhere I can test speeds?

Well news items seams to suggest it depends on type of graphic card your using. Big difference between theoretical values and measured / bench marked values.
Is not AGP GRANT sidebands hard to exploit fully. |

| PCIe has theorethical 250MB/s per lane speed. SAM460 has 4 lanes, so 1GB/sec theorethical. (IIRC, it does PCIe v1, not v2)
It might be impossible to get near 1GB/sec by PPC460 CPU? But perhaps with RAM to VRAM DMA transfer.
(similarly x1000 should one day reach 4GB/sec when DMA is used) |
