Events   Events : The µAlchimie - Oct 13 and 14
   posted by K-L on 12-Oct-2012 5:18:13 (2458 reads)
Once again, the French association Triple A will organize the second µAlchimie (MicroAlchimie).

Smaller than the usual Alchimie (held every two years), it is totally Amiga oriented and will gather nearly 45 French Speaking Amigans in Clérieux, a little town located in the Drôme department.

Amongst attenders, there will be Corto (PowerPoint, DosBOX,...), AmiDark (AmiDarkEngine) and HunoPPC (1941DX, Hurrican, Candy Crisis,...) who will maybe reveal some news.

Relec will also attend the event and should come with their nice Red One X.

All Amiga flavours will be present from the Classic (Amiga 500/600, Amiga 1200, Amiga 4000, MiniMig, FPGA Arcade,...) to the next generation (Sam 440/460/AmigaOne 500, AmigaOne XE/X1000, AROS, MorphOS on PowerMac, ...).

Here are the webcams : http://www.triplea.fr/microalchimie/pages/webcam.php

The second one comes from AmigaOS 4.1 on a Sam440 with Corto's Sonix Driver.

I would like to thank my coach K-L that asked some enhancements on Sonix, what had kept me at work until 4:00AM ! Each time I was blocked/bored/asleep ... he found words to motivate me and try something else.
His initial request was about an incremental saving mode to make afterwards a movie from a sequence of pictures.

Yesterday, discussing with Sergio, we talked about another request from K-L: the possibility to have several webcams to record in several directions at the same time. Sergio asked "And ... does it work?". I answered I didn't know, thought about how it was designed and then "I don't see why it wouldn't work" and we tried.

Result is here:

Great work Corto!

Where can I get more info on compatible cameras?
What sort of resolution and frame rate do you record at?

ddni: The maximum resolution (and actually the only one supported) is 352x288. I am not sure we can use the term "frame rate", it is about 2 images per second.

I think the only model that can be bought new is the Macally Icecam on Amazon.

Maybe you can find other models on the second hand market but not sure ...

For potentially more information, visit my official sonix webpage.

Sure ! He is very well ! We spent much time together (we were sat side by side), talking about development, games, SDL, ports, ... He would speak better about himself :)

What I can say is he has a fantastic energy, and work for free on numerous projects that he polishes (test, doc, enhancements, joystick support, ...) like a professional. He is sometimes disappointed about the lack of feedback.

We spent a great week-end, with him, K-L, Elwood, Relec and the swiss team, Mr Belett, Dr Bio, ... and many more, even if less famous. That was fun, with people happy !

I hope there will be soon some pictures to share !

@Corto

Indeed, a really great week-end we've spent together and thanks for all the energy you deploy regarding new features in your softwares

@ddni

Sure, there were some news but we cannot speak about them for the moment
