News   News : NCSA builds SuperComputer from PS2 rack!

The NCSA, a Super Computer Research group have built a supercomputer made from 65 linked up PS2 machines running Linux!

They are currently writing software for the rack of PS2 machines to take advantage of the massive processing power for research purposes.

Okay, that's just cool. I know it's "only Linux" but it is a cluster of "game consoles" after all.

Because there is no Linux distribution out for X-Boxes or at least none without legal issues. The Linux for PS2 on the other hand is allowed by Sony.

Besides you can fit a lot of PS2's in a room where you could fit maybe 1 or 2 xboxes.
