Software News   Software News : Jack - Status Update
posted by djrikki on 15-Jan-2013 20:34:17 (2305 reads)
Hello everyone,

Here is a quick status update for me in regard to Jack.

Hopefully before the end of January I will be releasing a version of Jack for Windows/MacOS X.

Read more --->

I envisage that this will be the one and only version for these non-Amiga operating systems as I re-factor the interface to take advantage of MUI/Royale!

Screenshots of the Windows/MacOS X are quite boring in comparison to the MUI work I have been carrying out so here are a few peeks of the App-Store in MUI.

Please note none of the actual coding behind the interface design has been carried out as yet - I start by designing all the interfaces first, most of the designs have actually now been finished - so here I show you the most interesting stuff here.

Further screenshots will be posted on the Jack for AmigaOS website.

Enjoy!

Nice to have an update.

But what about adding a short, single line description of what Jack is to the news item?

Jack is a Multi-purpose Utility exclusively for the AmigaOS Workbench
App-Store’, Image Editor, Calendar, Currency Converter and much more…

I know, I clicked the link.

Could (and should) still be in the newsitem text in my opinion

Just trying to give some constructive criticism

The news item was written last minute... Cmon on lets hear some positive feedback around here. Surely pictures speak a thousand words still!

Very quiet in Amigaland lets be positive people.

Just a reminder to developers out there, if you haven't already please PM your paypal email address, your preferred currency and the software titles on OS4Depot that you would like Users to be able to make a donation towards through the Jack App-Store.

FAQs:

Q. Do I need to create a web page or anything to accept payments?
A. No, Jack takes care of this for the user. Download AmiCygnix, Assist or countless other packages and see for yourself.

Q. What do you need again?
A. A valid paypal email address, your preferred currency, a list of your apps on OS4Depot.

Q. Do you take a cut of the proceeds?
A. No, you get 100% of the donation.

Q. Can I see who made a donation through Jack?
A. Yes, on the payment page one of the fields is populated with the referred.

Q. I am a user, are you aware that the currency is sometimes shown incorrectly when making a donation.
A. Yes, it will be fixed soon.

Well, there weren't any pictures in the news text either (I think that's possible too, but perhaps not recommended)

Don't get me wrong, thanks for the update, but shouldn't take too much time to copypaste a single line of text from homepage into the newsitem.

And yes, that might be related to the common "coder problem". Everyone knows their own software inside out, so might be hard to keep in mind that everyone else probably doesn't

A. No, you get 100% of the donation.

It might be worth pointing out that PayPal will take their share in any case (5%-ish or something).
